Post away.

What, you aren't going to thank all the little people who helped make it happen?

Hmmm, now that they all know Poogie is a woman we get a thread just for her?

I have seen the same sort of thing from Marines out at Twenty-Nine Palms, CA.  The number of women is far less than the number of young Marines.  So, if you see a big group of Marines clustered you can probably bet that a female is at the center of the cluster.

Oh no...a tribute is coming?..This could be scary  :buggedout: Hello and good morning. Okay, thanks to all the little people who helped make this happen, but there are no little people to me, everyone is special and equal in my eyes. That sounds sappy doesn't it? But it's true.  :teddyr: So thanks to all the special people who helped make this happen.
Oh the wonder of it all, being in the middle of a cluster of men. What to do? What to do? I'm speechless.  :bouncegiggle:

One question...
Is the "G" in your screen name pronounced like G as in "gypsy" or G as in "girl"?

I have seen the same sort of thing from Marines out at Twenty-Nine Palms, CA.  The number of women is far less than the number of young Marines.  So, if you see a big group of Marines clustered you can probably bet that a female is at the center of the cluster.

I have a Poogie and Marines story to tell, happened at an air show at Norton AFB. Among the many military aircraft from all branches of the armed forces was a USMC CH-53E Sea Stallion helicopter (a truly impressive aircraft) and of course the crew for this aircraft. They were letting people, mostly small children sit in the co-pilot's seat, my daughter, about 6 years old at the time wanted her picture taken in the seat, Kari wanted this done from the outside so what you would see was her waving from the co-pilot's window. We got in the line which started beside the craft and the turned and entered up the ramp at the rear, the wife went around to the left side to take the picture. The line moved slowly as people asked questions and were allowed to spend some time looking things over etc. There were two young Marines in the aircraft sort of keeping things organised and generally being helpful, but I noticed that every so often one or the other would look out the left side windows and speak to his companion, as I got closer I heard this sort of conversation:
 "Look at her, she's cute"
"I wonder if she's alone, don't we get a break soon"
"I saw her first, you stay away"
there was more in the same vein, nothing bad or dirty but it did make me wonder what kind of young woman was out there, when I looked the only one there was my wife, she was just walking back and forth about 30 feet or so from the helicopter waiting for Kari to call her over for the picture. It took me a while to realise these two young men were talking about my lovely wife, didn't know how to react, it was actually kind of flattering, but I finally decided on a course of action. My daughter got to the end of the line and told the young man she wanted to sit in the seat so her mom could take her picture, he lifted her up into the seat, both he and his buddy were looking out the window at my wife, apparently thinking that mom was the woman with the camera standing on my right side. Kari leans out and yells "HEY MOM" to my wife, at that point I cleared my throat very loudly, the two Marines turned towards me, they realised not only was the object of their attention the mother of a little girl, but also that her husband, who had heard a good bit of their comments about his wife, was standing there with them. I wish I had a camera to capture the looks of dismay and guilt on their faces, It was truly a Kodak moment. :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:

Hi Poogie!
Sparky is full grown in that picture.  He's part Min Pin and part some sort of terrier.  Born with only a stump for his left foreleg, and was missing a couple of bones in his right foreleg wrist -- he wound up having to have a rod inserted so basically his foreleg is straight with no bending, kinda like Frankenstein's Monster.

I adopted him from a rescue shelter.

He looks pretty good......Before we got the Beagles we had 3 other dogs, the first one was from the shelter, the next one they were going to take to the shelter, the 3rd we found roaming the streets. This all happened in the span of a year, we had a big happy family for about 17 years. I decided the next time we got a dog it would be a Beagle, no Beagles at the shelter. It was hard to pass all those cute faces. The Beagle we got looked lonely so we got another one. Sometimes it sounds like we have 10 of them.  :bouncegiggle:

"Do you save STUFF, just in case you might need it for later use?"
(http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p240/denjoy73/color00795.gif) I put things in our garage just in case we might need it. Then every couple of years I get a hair up my butt and throw it all out. Waste of time you say? No, I say. There's usually one or two things that I've ended up using. But in the long run it looks like I'm a PACKRAT. Anybody else a so called PACKRAT?

Title: Re: Poogie's thread
Post by: raj on March 02, 2007, 03:01:05 PM
Nope, not really a pack rat, except when it comes to books (and now dvds.)
Oh, and records (the vinyl kind)

Title: Re: Poogie's thread

Definitely a packrat. The ding-dong packiest.  :teddyr: I tend to save everything for potential future use, and sometimes that actually works, but more often I just keep a bunch of junk. I've tried to get better, but my wife and daughter are even worse than me. Like raj, my worst areas are books and dvds, but I keep waaaaaaay too much junk.

I starting a pretty good collection of DVDs too.

We throw just about everything out including good stuff. Good stuff goes right out onto the curb without any attempt to sell it. Our living space has always been rather sparse with regards to objects. We preffer empty rooms with only a bit of furniture here and there.  Anything unused goes out the door.

We preffer empty rooms with only a bit of furniture here and there.  Anything unused goes out the door.

Apparently that includes dictionaries. ([url]http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Happy/happy-073.gif[/url])

I couldn't resist. Just funnin' ya Scott; at your own expense, of course.  :tongueout:

Thanks Menard  You spelling Nazi.

Is Scott hinting that Hitler will make an appearance in the Gigli sequel?

I had something else here a little while ago about Menard's floating square, but it didn't sound too good, so I'm going to write something else.  :buggedout: How do you make that square move on the bottom of the post? I would like to try it.

The sequel to GIGLI (2003) is set in the 1940's with Hitler being played by Ben Affleck who escapes to South America to evade trial and changes his name to Higli  with the help of J-Lo. Never been a big fan of sequels, but I think HIGLI (2007) might be this summers sleeper.

Affleck trying to pass French airport security incognito, but he is really Hitler

Affleck fresh from the bathroom after thinking a quick shave will get him through security in Buenos Aires, but someone spots him.

Not to worry because J-Lo has a car ready at the airport for a sure get away.

Mean while his luggage is off to Africa

And J-Lo hasn't realised it yet, but she's been booted

And to top things off the airplane headed for Africa, has made a slight detour

You can use move tags on the text, link, and/or image you want to move.

When you write a post, or a reply, you can click on the Marquee button (anM with an arrow pointing to the left) to insert the tags or just type them out like so:

Code:
[move]place what you want here[/move]

Which would look like this when activated:

place what you want here

You can insert a link:

Code:
[move][url=http://scanlinesdvd.inc.md/][b]Scanlines DVD - Import and Rare DVDS[/b][/url][/move]

Which looks like this when activated:

Scanlines DVD - Import and Rare DVDS (http://scanlinesdvd.inc.md/)

An image:

Code:
[move][url=http://scanlinesdvd.inc.md/][img]http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/zhorkow/scanlines1.jpg[/img][/url][/move]

Which looks like this when activated:

(http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k253/zhorkow/scanlines1.jpg) (http://scanlinesdvd.inc.md/)

Or even an emoticon preceded by a smartalec comment (my specialty :teddyr:):

Code:
[move]That was so wicked of me. [IMG]http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Laughing/lol-065.gif[/IMG][/move]

Which looks like this when activated:

That was so wicked of me. (http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Laughing/lol-065.gif)

I am so shameless. :tongueout:
