Title: The Train (1965)
Post by: Scott on February 28, 2007, 10:04:49 PM
THE TRAIN (1964) - It's on TMC right now and it looks like an excellent WWII film starring Burt Lancaster. It's about valuable art being transported from France to Germany by train and the Resistance is attempting to stop it. It's a long movie and I watched about 15 minutes of it tonight, but since I missed the beginning of this I'm not going to watch the end. I'll save it for another time. Maybe I'll rent it from Netflix along with THE IRON CROSS someday. All I can say is that it looks like a classic and I don't think I've seen it before.  The film appears to be a favorite a lot of French websites who revere it. Seems to have been forgotten here in the U.S..

I really like this one a lot. Good mix of action and serious acting. The kind of movie I wish they made more of these days.

Not as well known as some other Frankenheimer films, but definitely belongs in the string of good and great films he made during the peak period of his career.
