C.H.U.D. II - Bud The Chud!

I remember drifting in and out consciousness trying to stay with this flick as it ran on HBO years ago.  The ludicrous plot and an ensemble courtesy of a casting director with advanced schizophrenia drained me like a NyQuil enhanced fever dream.

I could have written a symphony after that hallucinatory trip to the gallows! :drink:

I think we all know that the correct answer is a horrible little film called "Jaws: The Revenge!"

Return of the Living Dead 2, mainly because it is just plain wrong to make a movie completely devoid of skin, when it is a sequil to a movie that Linnea Quigley is nude throughout.

I'll throw a couple more names into this mess

Superman 3
Supspecies 4: Bloodsomethingoranother
Blade:  Trinity
Elektra
Batman and Robin
House of Dracula
To Die For II
From Dusk 'til Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money
A Return to 'salem's Lot

These were all fairly bad films in their own right, some worse than others.

I totally agree with RETURN of the LIVING DEAD II,I was gonna post that one as well. JAWS: the REVENGE was numbingly awful! The shark followed...FOLLOWED(???) them...!!!!! To the island!?!?!?

I'm with you RC, the Destroyer was more of an adventure flick than the original.

Superman IV makes Superman III look like Shakespeare.

Conan the Destroyer...better than Conan the Barbarian?  That's just plain wrong  :tongueout:

Slumber Party Massacre II.  So bad they actually tried to pass it off as a parody - after the fact.
Pumpkinhead - Blood Wings.
Return of the Living Dead - Necropolis.

Blues Brothers II (that is, if such an abomination were ever made.  I choose to believe that such a thing has never come to pass.

Darkman 2 and 3
Halloween 3
Exorcist 2
Start Wars Ep. 1 (it's a prequel so I don't know if it counts)
Hills Have Eyes 2

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Highlander 2
Instead of immortals they are actually aliens and somehow must save the planet from an ecological disaster?  Oh, and Ramirez is alive?

Howling II
Some werewolves can only be killed with titanium...

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned "Grease 2" either.  Even my wife shudders at the thought of that movie.

Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth

The Lawn Mower Man 2

China O'Brian 2 - someone needs shot

Heavy Metal 2000, although not "technically" a sequel, story-wise

Prom Night 2

Mighty Ducks part 12 or whatever...

Batman Forever ...and it just got worse with the already mentioned Batman and Robin

Any of the Air Bud seqeuls

3 Ninjas sequels

Matrix Reloaded- I kept asking, "Does this movie ever end?"
Destroy All Planets (aka Gamera vs. Viras)- Greaaaat!  Almost half of the movie recaps the last two Gamera flicks.  Someone kill me...
House 4- I don't remember much, except that it really sucked...

I actually like HIGHLANDER 2 better than the first one, at least the Director's Cut version of it. I like PROM NIGHT 2 better than the first one too.

I liked Matrix: Reloaded...well, except for the rave/soft core half an hour they wasted.  Matrix: Revolutions was the worst third act of any trillogy I've ever seen.  The Brothers Warchowski never learned that less is more.

I heard somewhere once that "The Last Crusade" was intended as an apology for the second one.

Howling II
Some werewolves can only be killed with titanium...

If I had to pick a Howling movie to list in this thread it would be the Marsupial one, which ever one that was.  Too lazy to Google it right now.   :tongueout:

Speaking of horror. . . The Amityville sequels are pretty much all bad to various degrees but the one about the lamp was particularly heinous as was Amittyville: Dollhouse.  I mean the name alone screams: "We've given up trying to think up titles so, yeah, whatever".

That's a very odd choice. All the Indiana Jones movies are considered good by most people.

The biggest problem with Revolutions is that it didn't really explain anything.

I agree with Him... temple of doom's fine.

lets talk 'Critters' for a second... original was pretty good, 2 was cool ("Brad Brown is back in town"), but 3 w/Leo deCaprio was pushing it, and 4:Critters In Space was an abomination of bad-movie size proportions.

Journey to the Center of the Earth (1989) which eventually turned into a sequel of sorts to ALIEN FROM L.A. although Journey started filming before Alien I do believe.

Actually, as "Howling" movies go, I definitely should have picked "New Moon Rising" if we are going for painful bad.  "Howling II" is terrible, but rather fun for being so impossible at times.

Kind of like Leprechaun in Space that way, eh?

Now there's a movie that needs a DVD release!

Remember Temple of Doom is actually a prequel. But it is the weakest of the series IMO. But no where near bad enough for this topic really. People remember the grossout stuff more than the story, character interaction, or great moments. Which do you think of first when remembering the film: the witty banter of Ford and Kate Capshaw or "chilled monkey brains?"

Regarding Ramirez coming back in the second Highlander, Yep, he lives again, just long enough to die again in a silly sacrifice with stupid FX, kind of a waste of Connery for a paycheck. Then again, we should have took it as a sign of sucky films to come from him.

Edit:Came back to fix a post so badly spelled, if I didn't know better I'd think I was drunk when I wrote it.

Hahahahahahaa.....

I've got to agree that  Howling II was terrible, terrible.   Although... images are drifting up from my subconscious.  Sybill Danning.  And the endless shirt-rip sequence at the end, set to that terrible "howl" song.

One of the latter Death Stalker movies could go in this list.  As movies go, those were like photocopies of photocopies... they barely seemed to exist.

This thread seems to be more about going from a good movie to a really bad sequel.  As in, the first movie is the summit, and worst sequel would be, you  know, as far below sea level as possible.  So in that regard Jaws II is a strong front runner for worst sequel.  By comparison, then, "Child's Play 3" isn't such a bad sequel.

Caddyshack II, anyone?

Has anyone here ever seen all the Witchcraft films? That has to be a one long series of suckiness, from the few I've seen. Then again, aren't the later ones just soft-core Skinamax type porn with some sorcery plot stuff thrown in to keep them in the legit film section of stores?

Of course the worst abomination was already named with Blues Brothers 2000, so

cruel intentions 2
the second ewok movie (as if the first was necessary)
every sequel to a Michael Dudikof Movie (and there were lots of them)
the Mask 2
and my favorites are the infinite numbers of Mortal Kombat Movies (although I really like the series for the fact that the evil ones won).

The Exorcist II: The Heretic Highlights include a tap dancing Linda Blair, a mind-melding Louise Fletcher, Father Richard Burton, and lots of grasshoppers.

Godzilla's Revenge A much bullied Japanese kid (in those disturbing shorts) dreams he visits Monster Island. He meets a talking Minilla (Godzilla, Jr.) who teaches him to fight like a monster. Most of the monster footage is recycled from other films making this the Godzilla movie equivalent of a very special Facts of Life clip show.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier Just what this franchise needed: a big screen remake of "The Way to Eden"! Too bad they couldn't work in a subplot with Spock's brain getting kidnapped. I wonder if the clip of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" is on YouTube?

By the way, does anyone know if there ever really was a sequel to the Hilton Sisters (Violet & Daisy, not Paris & Nicky!) film Chained for Life called Torn by the Knife? I've seen it referenced in several older film books but have never seen anything else about it.

i have the leperechaun box set "pot of gore" collection and leprechaun back 2 tha hood which is worse than in space IMO.

as far as bad sequels go ( meaning the 2nd in a series) id have to go with Silent night deadly night part 2.

Nothing that I can find that I would call "responsible" for that sequel.  And, gosh darn, you gave me the name for a movie that I had pondered over time to time - just never actually looked for it.  This is the film with one twin convicted of a crime and the plight of the other that will have to server he cojoined twin's sentence too?

Title: Re: worst sequels?
Post by: Raffine on March 11, 2007, 12:15:14 AM
Thanks! I had never been able to find even any semi-reliable rumors that this film was ever actually made.

Quote
This is the film with one twin convicted of a crime and the plight of the other that will have to server he cojoined twin's sentence too?

It's actually a little more complicated than that. *SPOILER!* The judge trying the case can't make up his mind what to do if the twin is found guilty of murder so he has himself a mental spell and begs the audience for help! The film ends with him frantically looking around at the film's audience  and pleading "Please! tell me what I should do? Can any of you help me? Please! Someone?!?" Fade to black...

Chained for Life is definitely worth a look. The film does seem a bit long even at just over an hour, since there's endless padding with some really strange Vaudeville performances. My favorite is the nervous plate balancer who talks like Elmer Fudd. The crazed accordian player is simply amazing.

The twins sing a couple of songs (you'll hum 'em for days afterwards) and actually have rather nice voices... assuming they weren't dubbed. They don't play their saxophones, though. It's a pity; they were supposed to be really good saxophonists. Most shocking line is when the twins, who were well past fifty at the time, remark that they should think about marriage since they're almost thirty!

Someday I'll post about my experience seeing the really bad Broadway musical based on their lives called Sideshow.
I'll never forget the opening lyrics to the show. Not to my dying day:

(mysteriously)
Come look at the freaks!
Come gape at the geeks!
Their malformations
Give you consternations
For weeks and for weeks.
Only pennies for peeks...
(Big loud musical blast from the orchestra)
COME LOOK AT THE FREAKS!

Seriously, watching bad live theater is like watching a bad movie times ten.

I've only seen Witchcraft 12, and it fits your description exactly.  It zips right past B movie and doesn't stop until it gets to grade Z schlock.  However, Janet Keijser is incredibly sexy  :teddyr: Now I really want to see Halfway House, another film she starred in.

Another bad sequel is Wild Things 2.  I loved the first movie, but the second is just major suckage.
