Also, Scott and the monitoring company reported it was down. I noted degraded performance and was able to correct some of that by rebooting the VPS.
I have checked with the host. The problem was caused by a large denial of service attack on another customer at the data center. Knownhost (the hosting company) is working to counteract the DDOS attack. All of the times I have had to ask Knownhost for help they have done a very good job, but dealing with a big DDOS can be frustrating for a system administrator. I have faith in their support staff; it just might take them a while to get the problem under control if it is a sustained attack. |
