One of the things I try to do at times is come up with foodstuffs that people would never buy.  For example:

Oyster yogurt (with real oysters on the bottom)
Shrimp fried rice ice cream
Chitlins cobbler
Pickle flavored jello
A Twinkie filled with mayo
Black olive wishniak

Any more ideas?

Mountain oyster-flavored ice cream

Pickled pigs' feet flavored soda

sauer kraut ice cream, or really anything with sauer kraut, I will never understand how anyone eats that stuff

banana mayonnaise

or how about mayo-flavored jello?

I was in Las Vegas a couple years ago and while on Freemont Street there was a big video sign with a woman eating deep fried twinkies.

Deep fried twinkies are actually supposed to be delicious, though I've never had one. They're also supposed to be able to clog your arteries after one sitting as well.   :teddyr:

My insane dad (and I mean that in a bad way) used to have a favorite food item: he would mix cottage cheese, sardines, pork/beans and ketchup in a bowl and eat them all mixed together.

I swear I'm not making this up.  Makes me dry heave just thinking about it.    :hatred:

Anybody here ever had boiled peanuts?

About ten years ago, I was traveling through Georgia and Florida. From Southern Georgia through Florida, you cannot escape the signs and roadside stands offering boiled peanuts; with a close second being signs for strip clubs.

The idea did not sound particularly appetizing to me, nor did it look appetizing when I observed someone eating them from a can.

People in that region claim they are excellent, but they just simply look gross to me.

The lady in the video is just so enthusiastic about it all. She seems like a really nice person. I was just totally entranced when I visited Vegas and saw this on big video sign. I mean the twinkie was so big on the screen that it made everyone feel like we were watching ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN. The twinkies were only .99 cents each.

Last year at the state fair I had a fried chicken sandwich that was a breast patty between two Krispy Kreme glazed donuts.

I think that guy acquired the mental power of the monkey brain by doing that.

Has anyone else ever tried the Monte Cristo @ Bennigin's?  :bouncegiggle:

It's been a while since I had one, but it's kinda' like a Club that's been dredged in batter & deep fat fried, & served with some kind of strawberry jam dip.  :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup: :teddyr:

Deep-fried twinkies have been popular for a while now.  Watching that woman attack that twinkie like a porn star, however... No, thanks.

How about potted meat food product, served scooped in a bowl and lovingly drizzled with chocolate sauce?

A friend and I in high school would think of odd uses for condiments.  A little salt for your ice cream?  Warm pat of butter in your coffee?

And an odd little social experiment: Next time you offer somebody a piece of gum, completely remove it from its wrapping before handing it to them.

Boiled okra ice cream with chunks of sardines.

Boiled okra is nasty.

How's about those layered bowls they had @ KFC? :tongueout:

The KFC bowls actually taste good, it's just that about 5 minutes after you finish it you feel like you just swallowed a couple of bricks. Poogie and I will never have this stuff again.

 

Oh, I didn't pick up on that Mofo Rising. If you find that somehow disgusting then you might remember the popsicle twins on the gong show years ago.

Not so much something that nobody would eat, but rather something I used to eat as a kid. Inspired by the Ninja Turtles concept of putting anything and everything on a pizza, I decided to do the same with a sandwich. As such, I created "The Cowabunga Deluxe" - three piece of bread, the bottom section consisting of peanut butter , strawberry jelly and potato chips (Cool Ranch Doritos when available) with the top section containing bologna, white American cheese, ketchup, mustard, mayonaise and pickles (when available). Christ knows how I managed to not only eat the things but not get violently ill from the smell alone. I still get a mental scent when I think about it... the kethcup and bologna being the dominant odors... and textures...  :drink:

Iheard somewhere recently that eating salmon is supposed to make you more likeable.
I like those flavored kind that come in those plastic bags, but I'm better able to afford that ground up kind that come in those little cans.
I have to but catsup on it, because I can't stand it.

But being from Kentucky as you are Menard, you know we have some fairly odd dishes here too.

I had a similar sandwich.

Steak-Ums with mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickles, lettuce and tomato on one side, peanut butter and bacon on the other.

This was my "signature" lunch for a few weeks.  I cannot remember why I quit eating it.

I've got some more ideas for things that should never be made:

Pork rind flavored tea
Octopus upside-down cake (Yes, you put an octopus in the pan, then pour in the batter, bake, and - there it is.)
Cheddar cheese ice cream
Mustard milkshake
Spam-in-a-blanket, with asparagus sauce (instead of a hot dog, use a cylindrical chunk of Spam)
Turkey stuffed with potted meat food product

I've had 'em. A number of years ago, when I was on a bus tour of South Carolina. Though I prefer mine roasted, they are not inedible. What I have found inedible--peanut wise--is raw peanuts. I can't stand 'em.
