too bad, i had a horrible experience with this "company". Shipment didn't arrive, weeks later i called, then i received it damaged. I called back and it seriously sounded like a bunch of teenagers in a garage or something. I sucked up the damage to the cases and never did business with them again

Sorry to hear that, I've always had good luck with them. Oh well they just must like men better ...  :bouncegiggle: :twirl:

You have to be careful with the exact meaning of that phrase these days.

Yes I know, that's why I put the (I'm Joking People) comment in there.

Odd...I tried using that promotional code and no matter what I had in my cart, all I got was a flat $7.55 discount.

I love this company.  Far cheaper than websites like Amazon.com and shipping is always free unless you want special rush delivery.  They tell you right up fron to expect movies to take 5-10 business days after shipping for them to arrive.  I have been shopping on this site for almost 5 years and have found that about 90% of the time they ship within a day or two of placing the order and about 90% of the time the movies arrive within 5 business days.  It rarely takes 10 business days.  They run sales very frequently.  I just picked up a few titles like ROAD GAMES, C.H.U.D., and HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD for $4.98 each, plus free shipping.  Tough to do better.

I placed a big order with them due to this sale.  Also signed on to their affiliate program.

I'll let you all know how the order goes.  I'd hope that Susan's experience was an abnormality.

This is not really Deep Discounts fault but the shipping by USPS or DHL around here where I live is horrible. Lots of bad experiences. The only reliable shipping here is UPS that why I can only real order from certain sites.

I picked up Dark Shadows set 20.  I've always had good luck with DDD, ordered from them about 15 times and the stuff has always arrived in a reasonable amount of time (considering shipping is free) and they've always sent me the correct stuff.

One of the hazards of NYC, I suppose.  My friend Todd lives in Brooklyn and apparently his neighborhood is one of the worst ones for USPS in the city and boroughs.

I can't say my experience had to do with the shipping, the packaging was fine - no signs of damage. Here's an exerpt of a post I made regarding my experience. Sad to say once i have one bad experience i'm not likely to try again. Glad everyone else is having better luck

POSTED ON 09-10-03  (proof i've been here that long!)

Deep dissapointment dvd. My first order was received today and the cases to both of the movies were broken. When I called customer service some young girl seemed curt and very inexperienced dragged out a long silence before I had to say "Hello?" and she replied "yeah?". I was hoping not to get this type of experience the first time around. The item was already opened so before I ship it back to them I want to clarify that I will in fact get an exchange regardless (you couldn't notice it was broken until the seals were removed)

I asked if they could just send me a replacement case - i guess they don't do that.  I cringe at "you get what you pay for", and let one bad incident spoil everything. To be honest I really don't want to go through the hassle of returning it and waiting another several weeks or more, the actual discs are fine.

I don't want to let go of my movie now that I have it in my hands, i'd rather fork out the extra cash for a nice case.  (the double case one is cracked so badly where it clicks together that it won't even close) While this may not be how they normally do business, first impressions really leave a mark on me unfortunately. ;-/

Does anybody know of any retail stores that might sell single/double dvd movie cases where you don't have to buy them in bulk?

Bummer Dudette,

I've received a bad disc before (Remember those FarScape Starburst duds) all I did was call them, they sent a new one with a postage paid label to send the bad disc back. No trouble, no grief, no problem.

Actually I just started buying my dvd's used on amazon and have had great success with big discounts, perfect dvd's and no problems in shipping. No weeks of waiting around wondering when it might arrive as with DDD  i never had so much as a tracking number.

Also we have a local movie trading company where you can buy used DVD's, I believe as they are affiliated with Blockbuster the surplus is no doubt extra's from the parent company But as people come in trading their movies it doesn't matter. they have bins even of dvd's in just a slipcase that are a buck or two all the way to brand new title. i know the headquarters is here in dallas but i would think that other cities have something similar to this type of shop. They even sell music and VHS tapes so you are bound to find lots of obscure stuff

Still waiting for my Aztec Mummy collection. I thought it had arrived yesterday, but it was the dogs' AVANTIX order instead. Since the ticks are boiling out of the ground onto the dogs right now I guess this is a good thing.

That's how I buy the majority of my stuff these days, too. Buying b movies this way is particularly effective: discs that originally retailed for 15 or 20 bucks can sometimes be had for a couple of dollars.

The one small drawback is you can't 'preorder' used discs from Amazon, and sometimes there's just something psychologically gratifying about being "first in line" to get a new release. I'm largely over that, and have only preordered a couple of things in the last few years. I used to preorder stuff from DDD all the time.
