MAN OF THE WEST (1958) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0051899/) - Directed by Anthony Mann and starring Gary Cooper, Lee J. Cobb, and a good actress named Julie London. It's the story of an outlaw who went straight. While traveling by train he is left stranded with two other people. He recognizes the area from his younger outlaw days. He checks out the old house and the old gang unknowingly pull their guns on him. Suddenly he's in the middle of the gang he got away from long ago and in order not to get killed he plays it like he wants to return to the gang. The gang who are relatives don't fully trust him and they don't even give him a gun. The gang test him a few times as he is also trying to protect a woman who was also stranded. The outlaw boss gets a great idea to rob a certain bank to fully bring Cooper back into the fold. The whole film is very good. If you like Westerns then this is a good one that has creative story for added bonus.

  (8 out of 10 Stars) The film was shot in Red Rock Canyon State Park, California.

Also saw the last 20 minutes of SEVEN MEN FROM NOW (1956) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0049743/) recently and will finish it next time I find it on. It's another fine Western directed by Budd Boetticher and starring Randolf Scott and Lee Marvin. What I saw looked great with Marvin playing a real bad guy and Scott playing his usual straight good guy role. This one also had a great film location of the Alabama Hills area in Lone Pine, California which was the film site for many many Westerns including the LONE RANGER, GUNGA DIN, HIGH SIERRA, and even TREMORS.
