Title: R.I.P. Kerwin Mathews
Post by: Raffine on July 09, 2007, 04:51:13 PM
Kerwin Mathews, the "devilishly handsome"  actor best know as Sinbad in Ray Harryhausen's 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD and Gulliver in Harryhausen's THE 3 WORLDS OF GULLIVER has died at the age of 81.

Around here we also remember him from THE BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF and JACK THE GIANT KILLER.

Well, that just SUCKS. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad is one of my all time favorites.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I was definitely a fan of his work in those films mentioned. A good swashbuckling hero.

I just bought the 7th VOYAGE of SINBAD a week or so ago,

Heres a clip of him in the BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF

[youtube=425,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjsbdDLqjC8

 He was also in OCTAMAN(1971)
 MANIAC (1963)
 BATTLE BENEATH the SEA (1967)
the 3 WORLDS of GULLIVER (1960)
 NIGHTMARE in BLOOD (1978)

When we were kids,me and my brothers would play Sinbad out in the fields...pretending corn stalks were skeletons....

 RIP

I think his name was spelled with one "t".

This is sad news, but Kerwin Mathews had a long life and won't soon be forgotten.  Good night, Kerwin.

Not alot of appearances in films or on television. Only around thirty or so. He has not made a film in almost thirty years, but he is proof that one film appearance can make one's career. Almost fifty years later we still remember him as the title character in "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad."

R.I.P. Kerwin Mathews.

I think his name was spelled with one "t".

Could somebody get Willy Wonka here a badge and a siren for his grammar police car? :tongueout:

Just kidding officer ...

Bah! It's a fair cop.

I did fix the spelling in the title of the thread and in the first post but that "Re." at the top of each post makes it impossible to cover my tracks completely.

Oh well. RKO misspelled Katharine Hepburn's name as 'Katherine Hepburn' in the credits for A BILL OF DIVORCEMENT.

He always seemed like he was having a lot of fun in the movies I saw him in and he was always entertaining.  RIP.
