Title: I'm just HOT ... period.
Post by: CheezeFlixz on August 08, 2007, 04:47:41 PM
:hot:  :hot:  :hot:

Well as you might know if you get outside, it's HOT ... I just walked in the office to cool off and and my little Yahoo Widget said it's 104, it was 102 yesterday and they just said on the local news it's going to be 103-105 tomorrow. It wouldn't be so bad if the humidity wasn't near 80%, I've been trying to stain a staircase and cut molding for a house and it's just sweltering in the shop even with huge fans going. The old thermometer on the wall is pegged out at 120 degrees. I'm guessing I've lost about 5 gallons of fluid today. ... well back to work. Must be global warming ... damn you Al Gore! You damn dirty Ape! (Or it might just be summer ... )

Yup! Up here in Michigan too! If one more person tells me "It's not the heat,it's the humidity" or "hot enuff for ya?" I'll slap 'em like a red headed step child! (my dad usta say stoopid stuff like that...the" red headed.." thing. He usta say lotsa dumb sh!t,like-"You don't know sh!t from apple butter!" " If you had any brains, you'd take 'em out and play with 'em",I'ts raining like a cow p**sin' on a flat rock!"(?huh?),"you couldn't find your ass with both hands!","that woman's so ugly she'd scare a dog offa gut pile!" (kinda like that one!  :bouncegiggle:)", she's so ugly she'd make a freight train take a dirt road",you can s**t in one hand and wish in another...know what you end up with?""i'll back-slap you to yer 1st birthday!","start by takin' yer head out your ass so you can hear what I'm telling ya!'" ....or "what's that got to do with the price of eggs in China?"

I don't know what any of this babble has to do with the price of eggs in China...but it's hotter than a whore on dollar nite!

It's topping the 100 degree mark in middle Tennessee as well.

My office is right across the lake from the Tennessee Titans' practice field and they've been inside all day.

Not that it would make any difference...

My favorite 'Dadism' my father used was when he thought we were driving too fast or doing something dangerous or reckless:
"Go on! Hell ain't half full!"

Was/Is your dad from the south? I've heard and used a variation of every one of those.

It's hotter than a freshly f**ked fox in a forest fire, hotter than a burnt d*ck in a wool sock, sweatin' like a whore in church, sweatin' like a pregnant nun.
It's smells so bad it'd knock a buzzard off a sh!t wagon, you don't know sh!t from shinola, she so fat she's got more chin than a Chinese phone book.
Don't you sass me boy, I'll beat you until your momma gets bruises. If I want any crap outta of you I'll screw your head off and dip some out.

and so on and so on and so on .... I don't know what any of this babble has to do with the price of tea in China is what I always heard.

oooh it's down to an even 100, better find a sweater and get back to work.
I'm over in far far western KY near the Reelfoot Lake in TN and the Mississippi River ... getting all the water moisture and no breeze at all.

Hot here in NC as well.  We've been pushing over 100 for the past couple of days with the humidity above 90%.  Honestly, it wouldn't be so bad if the humidity wasn't so bad.  I went to Las Vegas years ago and it was 111 the first day there, but the humidity was low.  I loved every second of it, very comfortable.

Here in the northeast it hasn't been over 100 but its been around upper 80s to mid 90s.   Seems like it is a two week heat wave going on.  We haven't seen much rain where I'm at either.

I go to the valley (Phoenix) in AZ; 2 or 3 time s year as I have a lot of family there. And it well be 106, 112 or something like that in the summer and the humidity is around 0%  or 10% and it's really not that bad, and when my family from there comes here and it's in the just the 90's, but the humidity is high around 70-90% and they about died. I think it's so funny because they act like 100+ is hot in AZ and 90+ here about kills them. Being the nice guy I am I make every effort to find things outside to do .... mawhahahah ..... then I say that wet stuff is called sweat.

We've had our share of 100+ degree weather this summer here in Sacramento, but the last few days have been unseasonably cool. Sunday it was very windy with highs in the upper 70's. Since then it has only reached the upper 80's, though this coming weekend we're supposed to get back to the mid 90's. I'm lovin' it.

I live in Roanoke, VA and it's about 98 degrees today with 70% humidity.

I think the heat will break a bit by Saturday though as they're saying that it's going to be in the mid to upper 80's instead for next week with lower humidity.

It was 102 here in my part of NC today.  The humidity wasn't as bad as Skaboi's has been until today when it went nuts.  And of course the filter of our community pool chose to break down this week, so I'm stuck inside with the kids.

My stepdad was from West Virginia and had some pretty weird little sayings too.  My favorite was always "You couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a banjo."  Not sure why you'd want to either.

You're down near Charlotte, right?  I'm out on the coast here near Atlantic Beach.  Charlotte is one hot place as well.  We have family down that way and visit there every five years or so.

Yep, stuck in Charlotte.....not my favorite city, but not a bad place to be.  We really haven't had a rough summer this year, it hasn't been as humid as the past few years.

Humid and Hot here in New Jersey.  Walked my dogs a tenth as far today and after was an ice cream cone in a furnace (took a nice dip in the mini-pool which was only 80 degrees)...my Dad had lots of sayings, but none of them were nice, even remotely.

it's finally hot here. guess what tho? Our building manager at work decided that because of all the complaints about the AC being too cold (we have blankets and winter coats on it's so bad) that they would crank the heater on simultaneously. So i have the ac blowing cold air and the heater blowing hot air directly on me all day long. Then i go outside into the oven. Blast!

We are hitting the hundred degree mark for the first time all summer . . . but I'm kinda glad to see it.  We are in Texas, this is August, and it's just that time.  I did stop mowing this morning when I caught myself shaking my fist at the 8 foot tall Johnson grass in our ditch and screaming maniacally:  "DIE!!!DIE!!DIE!!!"

Texas is getting our summer weather, lots and lots of rain and heat. The 100's are not out of the norm around here from late June to early Sept but this year the rain has just passed us by, I've mowed the yard 1 once in the last 2 and half months. Which is good if you hate to mow, bad if you need hay and have crops.

There no raini in the future and nothing but heat according to the weather. The corn here is going to be at 50% yield if lucky.

Later on we're making root beer floats and watching Happy Feet or Ice Age to take our minds off the heat.

We were around 100 again today but the radio said the heat index was around 120.  This is on the coast, mind you, where the temperatures are usually a bit lower than inland areas.

We hit 106 with a 'real feel' temp of around 120+. (Does it really matter when it's a106 what the reel feel is?) It's only 102 right now and I didn't get much done today at all, I live in the swamp bottom lands of western TN and KY and the air is dead still and you can cut it with a knife it's so thick. Looks like I'll be working the late shift again in the shop it's only time it's cool  enough to get much done, the low last  night was 82 it was still in the upper 80's when I called it quits at about 2:30AM. I heard on the weather it's getting down to 79 tonight ... burrr. I hate working at night I prefer sunlight, it never looks the same in artificial lighting.

A low front moved through this afternoon/evening taking a lot of the excessive humidity with it. There's supposed to be dryer air behind though the temps will still be in the low 90's for most of VA.

It's been so sticky throughout all of this week.  I cool my one level 2 bedroom house with a 12800 BTU Whirlpool window unit  in addition to ceiling fans in each bedrooms, and my AC has been running nonstop during the days this whole week.

Went to our weekly potluck here in NJ and it was too cool for most people!  Rain came thru this afternoon, and a drop in temp, but it hadn't been very hot for 36 hours, and yesterday was lovely.  Today was nippy for some, but I run hot and I loved it!

We got a small shower yesterday evening just enough to push the humidity up to about 99.99% the temp today was cooler or 98 degrees today but they said it's going to be over 100 for the next 7 days with lows in the 80's groovy ... I sick of working the night shift seeing how I work for myself, just to hot in the day to get anything done.

Pretoria (the powers that be are going to rename it "Tshwane" very soon  :hatred:) is a nice city but it is in the stupidest place ever: built in a major dent in the earth so that in summer, all the cool air rushes overhead. In winter, you freeze, in summer, you sweat.

It's currently winter here and our winter has been the coldest on record, it even snowed in Johannesburg which is about thirty miles away from us.

In summer however, you get a miracle of nature: just before the sun sets, you usually get a cloud burst of rain: the smell of the dry and then wet earth is magic. If you get to smell it over the exhaust fumes, the dog poo and all that, it's great.  :buggedout:

In Arkansas we were getting rain and below normal temps ( around 90F) for all of July. Usually around mid-July the grass starts turning dry and brown.  Now that it's August we are having record breaking high temps (107 today and tomorrow is forecast for 108). This weekend it may cool down to 95 by Sunday.

We're around 105-106 F today, with a heat index 5 degrees higher.  Typical, actually, for North Texas in August.  Good day to sit in front of my PC and read about bad movies . . .

It was 101 yesterday and 100 so far today, the 5 day forecast has it over a 100 each day until Sat. The heat is about to kill me and it's putting me to far behind in work. But it's nothing new here, it's normal here to for this time of the year. It's just the extreme lack of rain that is hurting us here.

Here in Iowa, we've been pretty lucky.
The temps have never gone above 90 F for most of the summer and hopefully they'll stay that way.

Just got back from spending last week at Virginia Beach.  Hot as hades on the beach too.  IIRC, last Thursday the heat index was 104 right on the beach.  Too hot to even be lying on the sand.  Looks like there had been some rain in Toledo while I was away, the lawn needed mowing and my dogwood tree has recovered a bit, though one rhodedendron is in bad shape (I think it's the one all the dogs use to send their pee-mail to each other.)

The humidity has dropped a bit here in Roanoke, VA but the heat is still here, though it's more in the lower 90's instead of the upper 90's like last week.  I think it should be in the mid to upper 80's by this weekend.

104 today and we are currently 18" of rain below normal, Texas is getting all of our rain. It's been over 100 9 out of the last 10 days and the day that wasn't 100 was 99. What the difference? It's so dry here we have tree dying and ponds drying up. The smell of dead fish baking in the heat is quite aromatic.
