Title: Things We Like About Andrew
Post by: Ash on August 10, 2007, 07:21:17 AM
Since today is Andrew's birthday, I thought it'd be fun if we all gave reasons as to why we like him.

I like Andrew because, even though he made me wait almost 3 years, he eventually posted my  Ice Pirates Review (http://www.badmovies.org/othermovies/icepirates/index.html).  (Thanks dude!)

And...we got to work together to interview George Hardy from Troll 2! (http://www.badmovies.org/interviews/georgehardy/)

Have a birthday karma point Andrew!

Happy Birthday dude!

What do you like about Andrew?

He's one of those Ascended Souls who voluntarily chose another incarnation to show us the True Path to Enlightenment.  You can just tell.

Andrew's cool because I heard he once saved a basket full of kittens from a burning building, then pushed a handcuffed Pauly Shore into it... through a window!  :teddyr:

Jeez where should I begin........

Andrew is the man because he gave the Vault the Legion of Muck Award for this quarter. He sends thousands of people to my site monthly via all the links to my site that are hidden throughout Badmovies.Org. He's supportive, funny as hell, and is one of the most generous and hardworking guys I've ever known. And best of all... he hasn't kicked my ass yet for always being late with roundtable deadlines.   :bouncegiggle:

Happy Birthday Andrew!   :teddyr:

1.  He started a great site with a fantastic community of members.

2.  Hilarious reviews of films that most would die trying to sit through.

3.  He actually suffered through The Mutilator!  I know few who could do so and come out with their sanity intact.

4.  Those great random thoughts, when they are rarely updated.   :bouncegiggle:

Happy Birthday Andrew!

Andrew is awesome because it takes real didecation and open-mindedness to watch as many B-movies and write as many reviews as he does. That, and I like his last name. Borntreger  :teddyr:

Happy birthday!

Andrew should be admired for having kept this site going all these years and tolerating the sometimes knuckleheaded inhabitants of the forum.  Sometimes the site has gone for months without being updated and Andrew has left the forum in the care of us moderators (and we managed not let it get wrecked while he was deployed).  Dedication to something like that is inspired from the top and that's called leadership.

He should also be appreciated for committing a major portion of his life to defending our country.

Happy birthday Andrew and thanks for providing this little home on the web for bad cinema fanatics.

Andrew is one of the most solid-headed people I know, and I can say that because he once destroyed a Russian tank by head-butting it into a ravine back in his Red Dawn days.

His love of bad movies in paralleled only by his love of grog.  Back in his Cimmerian days he was known to drink full grown gorillas under the table, and the proceed to devour an entire buffet, including the desserts.

Thankfully he has calmed down these days, with a solid work ethic and the love of his family.  His only misfortune is to be graced with the unfortunate task of overseeing the (sometimes) raving lunatics that call his forum their abode.

Godspeed you, good sir!

Because. . .

A) Andrew enjoys B-movies.  What's not to like about that?

B) He can probably identify the movie this screen cap is from:

C) He's a selfless and giving individual who runs an outreach program for Hollywood bad girls.  Or was that he wants to reach out and grab Hollywood bad girls and spank them?  Whatever.  ;)

Echoing Jordan's sentiments, what I like about Andrew is his generosity. This is manifested in many ways, like how he goes out of his way to help other webmasters like myself and all the things he does to help promote other sites. He doesn't see others as the competition, but fosters a sense of community among B-movie fans and webmasters. He is also honest and giving. Recently I bought some of the DVD's he was selling. When he named the price, I thought it was ridiculously low for what I would be receiving. I had to split the payment into two because my paypal account was low and I needed to transfer funds. When I made that second payment, I included an extra dollar because I thought he deserved it for not only asking such a low price, but shelling out money to cover shipping costs. Do you know what he did? He refused to accept it and refunded me that dollar! Just like Ace Rimmer...what a guy! :teddyr:

Happy Birthday, Andrew! (http://forums.lowerdecks.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrinparty.gif)

- He's great because his was the first bad movie site I visited, and I still have to find a better one.

- Because the videos of humorous scenes in the reviews helped me make one of my dates laugh.

- Because he keeps his reviews of bad movies anger-free.

- Because in our occasional conversations through e-mail his replies were always fast and extremely polite.

- Because he also likes "Tank Girl".

- Because he "warns" us when a movie has female nudity.

- Because he's kept the site running through the years no matter what.

Happy birthday, man.

Thank you all, very much.  It makes me feel a little awkward, because I really am just a fellow b-movie fan.  I know that the forum is a great place due to the group of people we have here.  Heck, by now I'd think that trying to help moderate a movie forum would have given me screaming night terrors.

Again, thanks all.  I'll keep doing my best with the site.

I like the fact he was able to watch SEXTETTE and not go blind or stark raving mad.

And I echo everyone about what a terrific site this is, and I'll add that this is the most enjoyable forum I've ever run across.

Oh, , ,THAT Andrew. . .
I like the fact that I have been able to near exactly pick movies out that interest me by his reviews. If his review sounds like something I'd like, I always like the movie, , if it sounds like crap from his review, , It's always been crap. I read some of the readers reviews, and it seems some kinda have an agenda either for or against a movie, so there it's hit-or-miss for me. But Andrew hits it exactly, honestly, where it should be.

Oh wow it's his birthday.

I admit I haven't been around the last few years due to college so he probably doesn't remember me oh well. My reasons.

-Very entertaining site which has a very fine message board(s)

-Can stick through the thick and thin. The man was deployed and when he came back he began reviewing again. Unbelieable.

-Speaking of deployment he is in the U.S. marines and therefore ready to defend our country.

-Very polite and intellegent and a family guy.

He'd be the perfect human being, but that goes to Chuck Norris and Bruce Campbell. No room for a third. Sorry.

I heard Andrew once single handedly fended off an attack from Skeletor, Megatron & Cobra Commander all at once with one swipe of his mighty blade.

In all honesty heres why I like the man of the hour;

Badmovies.org was the first site I ever encountered bad movie reviews on.  Andrew posted two of my reviews (Clown At Midnight, Demonic Toys) which also played a part in inspiring me to open DarkSider's Realm.  His constant work ethic in the bad movie community is a thing of amazement.  As a webmaster I can say he is also one of the most selfless individuals I've ever met.  He is always willing to help other sites out and has done tons to pull together our little counter culture.

Happy B-Day Andrew   Cheers to you good sir :drink:

Andrew parried the blow like this chick from the same flick. . .

He identified the movie's genre (thus proving he knows his bad movies) without identifying the movie (it is really bad) thus distancing himself from the stigma of association with it.

BRILLIANT!

Actually, I remembered a clear shower in either "Dead Space" or "Mutant" and thought that the screencap looked more like the production values of the prior.  My next guess is "Princess Warrior."  You do watch a lot of low budget and ridiculous science fiction films.  So either would fit.

Just gotta love those silly science fiction films.  I know that I do.

And, yes, you all - I very much appreciate the kind words, but this thread makes me feel kinda funny.  I always have hoped that the site would help people remember lost films, find something new that they would like, or steer them away from the certain disaster of films like "Sextette."  Egad, what if some cutting edge director remade that film as "S3xt3tt3!" and it was filled with hackers, and spies, and a CGI Mae West that was 130 years old?

I don't know, seems your skull reviews often have the opposite effect.  Can't tell you how many times I've been tempted to seek out and watch Pigs.  I actually caught some of Sextette on television a few years ago.  I tried, but gave up after a few minutes.  In my defense, they were singing.

I have to agree this kind of stuff often has the opposite effect than intended. I attend several other message boards, and when in one of them I told people not to watch "House of the Dead" linking to a review showing animated GIFs of all its badness, the result was a thread dedicated solely to Uwe Boll's opus.

So what you are saying is that I should never make a VD prevention film that tells people how painful gonorrhea and chlamydia are?

I do hear that really bad reviews always make people interested if it really is that bad of a movie.  One of my favorite reader comments is on "Sextette."

Quote
Upon reading the one-line summary on the reviews page, my first thought was 'male chauvinist pig... Sean Connery's at least 80, and he's sexier now than he ever was as James Bond.'  I mentioned this is a friend of mine, also a bad movie fan, who agreed with me, and we set out to find a copy of the movie so that unbiased (read: female) eyes could take a look at it.

Hooo, boy, were we sorry.

The comment goes on for a bit longer and finishes with:

Quote
That's our theory, anyway... it's the only way we can possibly imagine this movie having turned out the way it did.  And we take back all the pig stuff.
