OK we've had what commercials do you like or remember threads, but what commercials do you hate, I mean really hate? You know those ones that you can't find the MUTE button fast enough ... or if you found the creator of it you'd want to punch them dead in the mouth.

Number one for me is 'Viva Viagra' ... if Elvis was alive he'd be whipping out a can of whopass on whoever though that up. Soon as I here Mr Happy Guitar player start up, my brain goes mute, mute, mute. You don't do that to Elvis!!

Also pretty much any drug commercial drives me nuts, the side effect of most of them are worse than the problem it treats. Nothing better than to be eating dinner and here the phrase 'anal leakage' ... that's just more info than I need. And some drug for Herpies that you should consult with your doctor before taking if you have advanced HIV or bone marrow transplant ... I don't know but if you have had a bone marrow transplant or advance HIV you've got bigger problems then herpies.

Whenever that terrible mind numbing whistling comes on, I immediately change the channel.
And Bob...that guy looks like a total psychopath.

Another set of ads that I'm glad are gone are the Mazda car commercials with that crappy "Zoom Zoom Zoom" song.

I'd like to put a heavy brick on the accelerator and zoom zoom zoom one of their cars right off a cliff!

It just blows my mind how some advertising companies actually think that some of these commercials were good ideas.

In keeping with the "male enhancement" theme, there's that late night informercial for Extense where they always refer the penis as a "certain part of a male's body".  And some of the women were relentless; bad mouthing men for there short comings.

They stop playing this one as well, but that Maxwell House commercial where ordinary people were "singing" Our House.  Please Stop.

And any commercial that make a play on well known songs or pump it so many times, we are tired of hearing it (like the above).  There's that Kraft commercial that put a play on the song "You're Unbelievable".  I forgot who did it (ha ha)

I never understood why they make "male enhancement" drugs ... with there stupid names like Maxoderm and Extenz,
WHY don't they make something for women and call it Shrinkotwat or Minnopuss.

Seem that if men need to get bigger, then maybe some women need to get smaller.


Another set of commercials that get on my nerve is the get rich quick ones, and anything with BILLY MAYS ... if anyone drives me to violence it's him.

I can't stand commercials for maxi-pads always talking about "freshness". Ugh! Also those TAG body sprays ones are really annoying and stupid. Actually a commercial one actually likes is a much rarer commodity than ones we hate or dislike.

Hate those Zoom Zoom commercials.  Also those esurnace pseudo anime ones with Special Agent Erin  Esurance.

And any commercial with babies/kids in it that is not for them.  One tire company years (not even going to mention thier name )ago had a baby in the tire -- implication being that if you didn't buy their tires, you wanted your kids to die in a firey car crash.

OMG, that one drove me nuts. There was one Friday night when I was watching the Scifi channel and they had a three hour line-up of their Stargate shows and Galactica. I swear, that commercial was run during every freakin' break. By the time the night was over I was ready to scream, I'd heard that insipid laugh so many times.

I'm with on those esurance ones, they play those 50 times an hour in my area.

Quiznos is no stranger to sucky commercials.  I used to sing this to my wife when I was bored...its absolutely one of the most horrible ideas ever for a commercial...

The "Do You Hear Me Now" guy is a close runner up.  Glad they killed that joke finally.

Whatever car manufacturer's ad where they got some blond chick with a black tank top on sitting on a stool (with ample cleavage) talking about what she wants in a guy. She starts talking about football and ends the  ad with "But most of all he needs to have a very good ride." or something to that effect. 

Makes me want to punch the TV but then again, I hate all commercials.

Those Whiskas ads with people pretending to be cats. "No meat...No Hubert!" Man those are really silly and annoying. I actually kind of like the esurance ads because they remind me of Scully and Mulder to a small extent. They do play those way too much though. I actually love the song Freedom myself.

It wasn't until all these commercials started that I became aware the E.D. as they call it was such a problem. So now I joke with my friends every time they are in a foul mood ... "Ahhh, what's wrong E.D. got you down."

 Hehehe...I just got a cool idea. The next time I get a salesman calling my house,trying to sell me a vacation or a new roof or windows,I'm going to go off on him,in a weird way- like:
Phone Guy: Hello! May I speak to the homeowner?
 Me: Yes! It is I-ERECTILE! Master of the Universe!
 P.G.: When was the last time you bought new windows?
 Me: I am ERECTILE!
P.G. Are youu the homeowner,sir?
Me: I am ERECTILE!

 ...well...you get the picture. Every thing he says I will keep saying that, untill HE hangs up!

"I'm Free" (to do as I please any old time)  (I've always recalled the song as "freedom" for some reason) was originally sung by the Rolling Stones and then redone by the Soupdragons. I really love both versions but  it's the Soupdragons version which is the take that seems to turn up in commercials.

THANK YOU!!!  I had begun to think that I had hallucinated the "Quizno's Singing Roadkill" Commercial because no one I talked to remembers it or ever heard of it . . . but I SWEAR it actually aired during the Superbowl a few years back.  My gosh, what was some ad exec thinking??  That is arguably one of the weirdest commercials ever made!!!

One name comes to mind when it comes to commercials I HATE!!!  Jared.  Yes you lost 100-some-odd-pounds; yes Subway sandwiches have less fat.  SHUT THE F*CK UP!!!  If I want to eat a fatty burger, I'LL EAT A F*CKIN' FATTY BUGER!!!  The reason Quiznos is better is probably your dumb ass.

Who's this Ty Pennington clown other than being a freaking Bobble-head ... all of the sudden he is making commercial all over the place and has a magazine. Who is this clown? If you've seen him, watch him he can not speak without his head bobbling around like some demented bobble-head. I know he was like the carpenter or handyman on Trading Places or something, I don't think that qualifies to have a magazine IMHO.

My most hated one at the moment is for the American Express card.  They have a bunch of TV personalities sitting around talking, in very serious tones, about how they "are in a position to make a difference".  They talk about African famine relief, etc etc etc.  The only personality I recognize is Ellen Degeneres.  I just despise celebrities who think that working in a film studio somehow makes them scholarly ambassadors of good will or some such crap.  Go back to doing your thousand dollars worth of cocaine a day, telling everyone in America the details of your sexual preferences, and going through highly publicized divorces.  Don't think it elevates you to the rank of statesman for chrissakes.

Is this the one where just some random guy shows up and mentions something?  Its a really stupid commercial if its the one I'm thinking of. 

Yeah, I think it's the one where that random guy wants to save his lake.  Then all the celebs talk about how they go to that lake too --- even though they've never heard of it before.  Typical of celebs to jump on any bandwagon.

In regards to Quiznos commercials, I hate that the guy pronounces the "m" 5 times, when they only have 4 in their stupid slogan.

What I love about anti smoking campaigns is the fact that their data is based on quack science, anyone that as ever seen Penn and Teller's Show Bullsh!t knows that. Both of those guys are non-smokers and proved that the data and science around anti smoking ads is in fact BS.
Whereas nearly 50,000 people per year are killed in car crashes you don't see people protesting to ban cars.

I think what I hate about "The TRUTH" is their arrogance and distasteful attitude.  I'm a nonsmoker but I occasionally light up a cigar and these ads don't move me.  They just remind me of every annoying kid I dealt with in college trying to "make a difference".  I feel if you're going to promote a good thing like not smoking, do it tastefully.  Don't be an a-hole about it.

this commercial is for some kind of fat dissloving drug,it states the side effects in LARGE letters at the bottom of the screen.the side veffect with the biggest letters says"may cause an uncontrollable oily discharge,uncontrollable gas discharge and/or a foul smell emanating from the skin"...oh yeah,i'll DEFINITLy lose weight,since i won't be able to go out to eat,or the grocery store,and NO ONE will want to be around me to run my errands for me!!!plus,i'll probably just suicide in order to escape my own reek!!!!

 As a smoker, I find the anti smoking bullsh#t to be getting WAAAAAY outta hand. No smoking in your car.? Your car makes more pollution and toxic fumes then my lousy cigarette! Killing X amount of people a day? What about the booze served in those no -smoking restaraunts? Or the garbage sold at fast food dumps? Maybe I should go in one of those restaraunts and order a glass...I could chew tobacco and SPIT chaw while folks are eating...or on a street corner...or out the window of my car!

Is anyone else out there sick of television advertisers insulting out intelligence?
Case in point.
In a nice apartment in a city somewhere, a young man introduces his girlfriend to his parents who come from a different country.
The father, in broken English, asks the son if he can use the bathroom, and while in there, discovers his son's body spray and accidentally sprays some on himself.
Upon returning to the living room where the family is gathered in conversation, the young woman sniffs, turns and starts with this ridiculous dance and going "bom chika wah wow".
Come on people, How annoyingly stupid can you get. The novelty wore off of those commercials after the first one.
These are almost as annoying as the one with the young woman in a doctor's office in a neck brace.
The doctor tells her that she has beautiful hair and then wants to discuss how she got herself in a position to have said neck brace on.
Change scene to some women in a waiting room of some sort, and one flip of the hair leads to another leads to a toss of the head, leads to the first woman acting like she should be on stage at a Pantera concert or something. Her head's going, and the hair is flying around and all of a sudden there's a little crack sound, and the girl puts a hand to her neck in pain.
Look, if a shampoo would give me that much hair, I'd use it. My f**king hair is falling out faster than it's growing in for Pete's sake, but for hair so thick it throws my neck out just swinging it around? I'm sold.
Jesus H. f**king Christ on a rubber crutch people...a little reality in advertising here? Or do the marketing big wigs think that we're all a bunch of barely verbal troglodytes who'll fall for anything?

i hate the caveman commercials,and now they made them a sitcom!!!THANK YOU FOR STRIKING,WRITERS GUILD!!maybe some of this godawful crap will go away!!!

If I see one more commercial for E.D. or some other product that deals with the male 'member' being to small (BOB!) or too soft (Viva Viagra) or what ever else could be wrong with it.
Last thing I want to do is to explain to my young daughters what E.D. is ...

I just saw an AFLACK commercial -- where they're using the characters from the old Rankin & Bass Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.

Ugh.  Must everything be reduced to being used to sell stuff?  Washington, Lincoln, and now Rudolph?

There is this one commercial that I hate with all my heart.  There is this car dealership in Central PA that has radio ads and a few TV ads.  The song is annoying and the people who sing in the radio ads are just awful.  They also did the same thing for TV except they have a bunch of kids singing it, with cute look teenage females, but that's it.  I HATE so much, that if I just start hearing the ad, I either turn off the radio or turn the channel.

The other ads that get to me.  Hearing about Genital Warts.  It's bad enough that you have them, but do you really have to come on National Television and let people know. 

Medical problems ads, ads about medical procedures, (Especially Gastric bypass surgery).  To me it's the easy way out for weight loss, which to me the easy way out is not always the option I choose to do.   

That's a wonderfully awful commercial! 
Tidbit: I met the actor who played the Lifecall responder who states: "We're sending help immediately, Mrs. Fletcher...!"  Interestingly, he told me had done a bit part on "Murder She Wrote," and was left without a name for his line in the commercial, so he used the first name that came to mind... Jessica "FLETCHER !"   :bouncegiggle: 
I like all GEICO ads (even the "cavemen") which is like a breakthrough or revelation for me (being sort of religiously against all commercials) but I can't bear to look at that "Cavemen" TV program.

I've seen it, but I haven't heard it because soon as commercials come on I hit the mute button if at all possible.

I hate any commercials that use diseases or any form of sickness to sell their product. 

"Buy this pink cell phone and support women with breast cancer." As opposed to just being a good person and donating money.

"Buy this hybrid car and save the planet."  I'm all for hybrid cars and environmentalism, but how about saving water and electricity?  Most power plants in the US still run on oil or coal.

I also hate the new anti-drug commercials.  They were originally designed to show how bad Cannabis is for you, then new research shows it's not really that bad.  Now they try to guilt rid you into not doing them.

I'm glad this thred is back up.  I detest any and all jewlery commercials during Xmas and Valentines Day period.  They're engineered to make women everywhere look at their man and say "Why can't you be like that".   :hatred:

I don't necessarily hate this commercial, but does the pizza actually look delicious to you?
It looks like an inch or more of crust with a razor thin layer of cheese and toppings on top.
I want to see loads of melted cheese just oozing off pizza!  Not something that looks like what I buy from the frozen food section of my local grocery store.
