Title: Wild Zero (1999)
Post by: RapscallionJones on August 27, 2007, 12:03:22 PM
Check it.  My latest write-up takes on the Japanese counter culture zombie rock and roll movie, Wild Zero, starring noise-rock masters, Guitar Wolf.   Wild Zero lands in a strange place somewhere firmly between Dawn of the Dead and Rock and Roll High School.

Nice, I've still got a bootleg copy good to see it finnaly get a decent release. Ever tried the Wild Zero drinking game? I think its something like drink every time some one says "rock and roll", fire shoots out of something, a zombies head explodes or someone combs their hair. I still havent tried it but it sounds fun!

You know?  I haven't, but what's funny is that it's an extra on the Synapse DVD.

Awesome review of an awesome film. Me and my friends watched this at our college b-movie club, even playing the drinking game with soda (no alcohol allowed on campus, although just from that I dont even wanna think about how f'ed up you'd get playing for real).

I hated this film.  It's rare for me to be that negative of a movie, but frankly, most of Wild Zero was flat out BORING.  That it could be so psychotically paced and have so many random ideas and still manage to bore me is impressive in and of itself.

Also, Guitar Wolf is one of the worst bands ever.  Man their music is terrible.  It literally gives me headaches and makes my ears hurt.  Despite that, I will admit they were cool in their non-musical role in Wild Zero.  One of the few upsides to the film.  I also thought the guy wearing hot pants was funny.
