Title: Singles
Post by: Mortal Envelope on September 27, 2007, 12:17:59 PM
I watched "Singles" again the other night and was planning to write a review for it, but decided it was actually an ok movie, even if it's rather dated with the Grunge era + video dating services, etc.  Sure, some of the closure with some of the subplots was kinda weak, but overall the story wasn't too bad - a good 20-something dating movie with a great soundtrack.  The movie has a few cameos from Seattle band members from Soundgarden and Pearl Jam and contains actual performances from Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, along with posters/flyers for Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, and more.

Interesting is that Smashing Pumpkins was the only band on the soundtrack that was not from Seattle.

This definitely goes in the collection of Seattle/Grunge movies (along with Halloween 6) although, like I said before, I can't decide if it's quite bad enough to review as a "bad" movie.

This movie also has a lot of small bits played by characters that are much more well known today, which makes it rather interesting.  Also, this movie has some great lines and next to "Spinal Tap,"  "Citizen Dick" is one of the more memorable fake bands from the big screen.

I have been meaning to see this for years because I had the soundtrack when it came out, but still never seen it for some reason.
