Title: Andrew In Your Dreams?
Post by: Scott on October 09, 2007, 09:31:06 AM
The other night I had a dream that Andrew moved to my neighborhood. Next door in fact and as Andrew and his family settled in I stopped by because now that he lived so close I had to show Andrew my DVD collection and said to him in my dream that he could borrow any of my DVD's anytime he wanted.

The whole thing cracks me up. It is true that I had this exact dream the other night.

Karma, Scott, thanks for the laugh.

If Andrew did visit me in my small garden flat, he would only be confronted by 50 DVDs and about four hundred VHSs.

I would then bring him to the Film Archives where we have over 250 000 films for him to look at.

Karma right back Trevor. I think Andrew lives in Baltimore now, but who knows maybe he'll movie to a neighborhood near you.

Can't say that Andrew has ever appeared, but it was a dream involving this board that brought me back here after an absence of nearly a year.

Wow ! ! ! You came back due to the dream? Never underestimate the power of shoddy filmmaking and those who enjoy it.  :buggedout:

By the way AndyC if I didn't say it earlier then let me say welcome back AndyC.

I don't often encounter people I actually know in my dreams.  Sure, Milla Jovovich, Anna Falchi, and a couple of other women pop in from time to time, but not people I know in person.

I did meet a weird naked indian in one of my dreams.  The conversation went like this:

Me:  "What are you doing here?"
WNI:  "Just hanging out."
Me:  "Um, could you go someplace else?"
WNI:  "Like where?"
Me:  "Well, how about you go over to AndyC's dreams.  Put a bug in his ear that we all miss him and would like him to come back."
WNI:  "Do I have to put my clothes on first?"
Me:  "Naw, you're good."

Funny, but actually it was Kevin Murphy who told me to come back.

I had a dream a couple of weeks ago where I was on a movie set and loaned Russell Crowe one of my Harry Dresden books and the SOB wouldn't give it back to me.

Strange dream for sure, but what's really strange is I remembered it the next day. I usually just recall them being weird, but can't recall the details.

And RCMerchant, you've just noticed that Scott is weird?  I'm not going to mention the "G" word or you'll really find out how weird he is .

You probably mean GIGLI. A lot of people are down with GIGLI, but you should take another look from an Italian point of view just to be fair. A lot of American viewers don't give it credit. This film is an International phenomenon and box office smash hit around the world. Kinda like Soccer is to the world of sports.

Last night my dog Saffy, who has some pretty intense doggy dreams anyway, actually howled in her sleep.

She was sleeping on the futon in the TV room when she started doing that 'sleep running and whining' thing. She then threw her head back and loudly howled!

The other dogs looked at her briefly with "What a maroon!" expressions. Saffy woke up, passed gas, and started licking herself.

True story!

I seldom have dreams as interesting as your Andrew dream, Scott.

Mine mostly are of the anxiety-ridden "Oh no! I got finals today and I never went to class!" or, as a variation , "Oh no! I got a performance tonight and I never went to any rehearsals!" brand.

My dreams are hardly ever any fun, but at least they make my waking life seem better.  :teddyr:

I do wonder what made the dog howl in her dream, though.

About 3 nights ago I did have a dream where a large faceless entity forced me to experence bad movie plots from horror flix (chased by axe weilding nutjob, chewed on by rubbery reptilian thing, stuff like that) and every time I failed to survive a member of my family was killed by a giant styrofoam bagel. So I suppose the faceless entity could have been Andrew, but then again, it could have been any of you... Either way, I enjoyed that dream immensely! (What? I like nightmares OK?)

I'm amazed by how many times I've had that one. It's worse when I've got an exam, I haven't been to class and I'm naked, of course. The amazing thing is that I haven' t been to school in almost 20 years. When does the trauma of high school finally wear off? Are there 90-year-old men having dreams about failing exams in the nude because they were out throwing apples at frogs in the old swimming hole when they should have been listening to the teacher with the mortarboard on his head. The mind boggles. And I've had nothing but coffee for breakfast and lunch.  :buggedout:

I'd guess that it's one most common of dreams. My dreams aren't really disturbing, they just tend to be this one or a variation on it, or just simply boring. One time I did dream that I was a member of a comedy team a la Abbott and Costello, so that one was fun.

I remember a movie referencing the "School Final Exam" dream: A character is being tortured (or knocked out, or something) and suddenly finds himself in this dream. He wakes up in the middle of a beating (or something) and says "Oh, thank goodness that was just a dream!".  For some reason I'm thinking it was one of those 80's AIRPLANE-ish flicks.

I think that was Val Kilmer in Top Secret.

It's true, you always wake up relieved. Funny, because I often wish I had it as easy as I did in high school.

I always have a dream about getting lost in a huge house,or building. It looks normal from the outside...beyond being old and  beat up, but on the inside it's deserted. And HUGE. As in...it has many floors and passages and cellars and subcellers. And if you go upstairs beyond a cerain point...it is filled with cool old antique stuff. But certain rooms I am afraid to enter...because they are haunted (?) ,or something...I can feel the evil coming from behind the doors. I open them any way...and I get real scared-and wake-up.   :buggedout:

Or I have sex dreams. But I never quite score. I get real close to scoring...but someting will distract the dream off course...and it just turns into weird dream nonsense.  :bluesad:

Very disquieting.  I don't know Andrew other than by his reviews and posts, and I've only seen his picture once in another thread, yet he appeared in my dream last night.  And he identified me immediately as "Rev. Powell" despite the fact that I don't actually look like Robert Mitchum.  We just said hello to each other and I resumed teaching my Freshman English class (even though I'm not a teacher).  I guess this thread title put the idea in my head.

This topic keeps coming back to haunt me, you know that?

I want to say that I have not intentionally intruded on anyone's dreams.  If you see me in your dreams, I am probably lost.  Telling me how to get out (and how to avoid whatever your Id is creating to kill me) would be much appreciated.

Andrew, I am sure it was supposed to be Salma Hayek in my dream.  She must have cancelled at the last moment, and you were the only one available to fill in on short notice.  I'm firing my subconcious' casting director tonight.

No Andrew, but last night I had my first b-movie dream, kind of like from a TV-watching perspective: two men are about to start fighting and one starts running towards the other. One wears a yellow jumpsuit, one a red one. Shortly before the clash together there is a cut and now they are both claymation figures! I had a great WTF-moment, thinking of what they are supposed to do now that could not have been done by real acting....then I woke up. Disappointing.

This is not topical, but when I have a gun in a dream, the damn thing never does anything.    I'm blasting away at bad guys and it doesn't do a thing.  Ok, now I write about it, thats sadly freudian.   I'll just be off in the corner.

I have a lot of dreams where Vincent D'Onofrio comes to me and kisses me passionatelyand then makes love to me so that my toes tingle. I swear, I can actually feel him against me. But I fear that's just wishful thinking   :teddyr:

Still, if he's anything in real life like in my dreams, he's in serious trouble if I ever meet him.  He'll won't be able to walk for a week

I have had a recurring dream in which Andrew calls me at work, tells me my shop drawings are no good and gives me 24 hours to get them corrected or he'll give me a bad review. Not exactly a nightmare but  I always wake up wondering what that's all about. I imagined a head shrinker would have a field day with this one, till I read some of the other posts on this thread.

One thing that Badmovies has taught me is that I am not alone in my strange liking of really awful cinema, by the way I think that "yummalicious" is a great sounding word, going to use it to describe some of the tastier things in my life. Now if only I can work "yummalicious" and the term "douche-baggery into the same sentence I'll die a happy man.  :bouncegiggle:
