I remember seeing it and according to IMDB it lasted a whopping 8 episodes.  It had Richard Benjimen and Tim Thomerson in it.

I remember watching this when I was a kid and loving it, although I really don't remember too much about it nowadays.  The IMDB page can be found here (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077066/).

It only lasted for one season, and I think not even a full one at that.  If I recall correctly (a very big 'if'), the show was intentionally tongue-in-cheek.  It's about the crew of a space garbage truck, who literally collect giant bags of garbage in outer space.  Their boss is "The Head", a guy with a really huge head (or was he all head?).  The name of the captain is "Adam Quark", and obvious (and lame) pun.

I can only vaguely recall two episodes.  In one, The Head needs to send a message to the crew (I think to warn them about something).  When he finds out how much the message would cost to send, he spends most of the episode with his assistant paring down the message to a less expensive length.  At the end of the episode, I think the message still hasn't been sent and the crew manage to get out of danger themselves anyway.

The other episode (or maybe the same one?) I seem to recall was a spoof of the Star Trek episode where an experimental computer is installed to run the ship, which of course goes haywire and puts the entire crew in peril.  This might be the same episode as the aforementioned one, or I may be imagining this one entirely.

Overall, I remember enjoying the show, but that was a long time ago and I was much younger then.  I would like to see them again to see if they are still as funny as I remember.

I remember this one! For years whenever I described it to people, no one knew what in the hell I was talking about. Nice to see I'm not the only one who recalls it. Of course, it has been so long, I don't remember a thing about what it was about or what the characters were like. That means it's time to see it again!

i remember watching probably the entire 8 episodes when it was on.  laughtracks really sucked back then, for sure.  sounds like the same one that every studio used in EVERY show.

this show has a gotten a certain rep as being great, but it's really not that funny, overall.

I very vaguely remember this one.  From the looks of it, 70's TV sucked all around.
'Course I may be confusing it with another cheesy 70's space comedy.  I can't remember.
Either way, neither show was all that great.
Lemme check IMDB

I had not realized a young "Timothy" Thomerson also starred on this show.

Vaguely, remember the garbage and sapce elements, but I tend to get this one mixed up with the short-lived scifi comedy show with Leslie Nielsen. They were two different shows right? I even saw Supertrain as a kid, possibly even parts of Pink Lady and Jeff.

I watched some real crap when the adults weren't looking back then.

Dad and I were Rockford Files fans though, so it balances out.

I remember watching that as a kid.  Well, I mostly remember the two blondes - Tricia and Syb Barnstable if I recall correctly.  It was moderately amusing, even at that age when it didn't take much at all for me to think something was hilarious.  There was one episode where the commander was wearing some pendant around his neck, and somebody shot a laser gun at him which hit the pendant and reflected back at the guy who shot it.  The commander got the idea he was invincible for most of that episode.  I also remember a Star Wars parody episode, but none of the specifics.

Been waiting for it to come out on DVD.  I always love getting stuff that I only vaguely remember.

I liked the show, although I don't know what I'd think of it now. I remember there was a character who was half man/half woman or who morphed between the genders named Gene/Jean. I think there was also a plant man that was reminiscent of Mr. Spock. Ah, Where are the sci-fi-comedies of today? And does anyone remember a robin Hood parady called "When Things Were Rotten"?

Yes! I had all but forgotton that one!  Mel Brookes later reworked the idea with his eighties film MEN IN TIGHTS!

I would agree. 70's TV really did suck for the most part...but,come to think of it...TV in general is not known for being a 'quality ' source for entertainment. Most programs are geared for a wide audiance...which in the end turns out to be mostly blah and generic. It's the  entertaiment
equivelent of cafeteria food.

I remember watching Quark.  In later years, Red Dwarf brought it to mind for some reason.

I remember "When Things Were Rotten" too - great theme song.

I didn't watch that much TV - really! - but we skipped the 'normal' stuff and watched this sort of thing whenever we could.

And yea, so I'm old...on the outside.

Surprisingly, for such a short lived show, there is so many people who remember watching it. Perhaps, because the concept was--and, yes, it was done tongue-in-cheek--so unique. The episode I remember had Ross Martin as the villain. After seeing Ross as Artemus Gordon in "The Wild, Wild West," I made it a point to always watch anything with Ross Martin in it.
