Not a big fan of JD as it's one charcoal brickette away from turpentine, but I hate to see whiskey wasted.

Bite your tongue!  Normal black label is not sipping whiskey, but the single barrel and some of the specials are very good.  I saw this story last night and nearly wept.

Now remember I'm from KY ... and have rather high standards for bourbon whiskey.
This IMHO is the good stuff...

Seriously, Jack is OK but it is to charcoally for me, even the select issues. Marker's, Beam, Knob Hill, and many, many more are much smoother. Selected Maker's that's aged longer can go down like silk. Try it Mikey you'll like it.

I think that I like the bite that Jack Daniels has.  A little bit of a rough edge appeals to my palate.

I have tried some different whiskies over the years, including Maker's Mark.  Didn't dislike it, like some others (Jim Beam).  Can always try it again, because I have noticed that tastes change over time.

Yes they do, I use to drink stuff and loved it that I wouldn't clean my paint brushes with it today. I'll admit in my Corps days I drank JD (far to much at times) but mainly because it was easy to get E and NCO Club always had Jack or Jim, but rarely Makers back then. Still like Beam and Maker's along with a few others and a few select Scottish Malt Whiskey's like GlenMorangie or Glenfiddich.

I like

and

Makers too, but only when those two aren't available.

Forget Tennessee whiskey, though it's good enough for Volunteers and other folks who don't know better.  Still, I wouldn't go so far as to pour the stuff on the ground.  Just dump it on the campus of Vanderbilt and I'm sure they'll take care of it in an hour or so.

Where are you in KY, Cheeze?  I'm moving to Louisville in a couple weeks.

Vary far western end of the state, near Paducah.

2 good brands you pick there, both grace my bar alone with many other KY bourbons. never been a big fan of TN whiskey's, as I said to much charcoal for my taste.

Other good ones are ...
Jefferson's Reserve 15 Year Old

Noah's Mill

Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 23 years

Oh and so many more ... now I'm thirsty.

Doubt I'll be getting out much Paducah way, but if I do I'll be sure to stop in your bar for some good bourbons I've never had before.

Well, it's in the basement aka 'the man cave'. No girls allowed.
