On Nov.23rd,1887 was born one William Henry Pratt...aka BORIS KARLOFF!
known by most as the FRANKENSTEIN monster in 3 films...the 1931 original, the BRIDE of FRANKENTEIN,and finally in the SON of FRANKENSTEIN.
He appeared opposite the Monster (played by Glenn Strange) in HOUSE of FRANKENSTEIN...and as the ol'doc himself in FRANKENSTEIN 1970...and as himself dressed in the old boots and flattop once more for an TV episode of ROUTE 66,along with Lon Chaney Jr and Peter Lorre!(http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l79/RCMerchant/untitled-93.jpg)

He made many many classic films for during the Golden Era-the MUMMY (1932), the OLD DARK HOUSE (1932), the BLACK CAT (1934); for MGM-the MASK of FU MANCHU (1932),and for RKO in the 40's he did the Val Lewton films the BODY SNATCHERS (1945),ISLE of the DEAD (1945) and BEDLAM (1945).

In the 5o's he laid low...but on TV he did the marvolous THRILLER  TV program...which he occasionally acted.
The late 50's and into the 60's found Boris making a comeback, thanks to the monster craze and the revived interest in his old work-via SHOCK THEATER and Famous Monsters of Filmland. He did work for Roger Corman's AIP in the RAVEN (1963) the COMEDY of TERRORS,and the TERROR. He was an in-demand guest on TV shows and did the voice for the best Christmas special EVER-the voice of the GRINCH WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS.

In the late 60's starred in Peter Bogdanovich's TARGETS-playing an old horror movie star(!) who goes head to head with a psycho sniper.(http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l79/RCMerchant/untitled-92.jpg)

He ended his carear with some Mexican quickies...my favorite of them being the cheexy The SNAKE PEOPLE.

 He died Feburary 2,1969.
