I've eaten my share of chicken gizzards (might be time to fry up some more dipped in beer batter), and cleaned lots of them also. Found bits of stone and small pieces of gravel, I'm surprised I haven't broken a tooth on one, but I've never run across anything like that. But most of the ones I've eaten would have come from big industiral farms rather than family farm raised birds.

I'm just amazed the bracelet survived in such good shape under those conditions for so long before it ever got inside the chicken.

Oh thanks now I want a big plate of deep fried livers, gizzards and hearts. Thankfully the store here sells them fried fresh. Going to get some today.

Hearts and gizzards, yum! Livers I've eaten all my life, I can even say I like them, but if I could never eat them again, I wouldn't miss them. Rather use them as fishing bait if I ever take up fishing again, which I probably won't.

But making them yourself is so fun. My mom makes a good batch, even brought me some during a visit a month or two ago. But once I started cooking my own when I moved out and found that beer batter recipe, I was really happy. I've cut way back on eating battered and deep fried foods, might even give them up all together as part of my take better care of myself routine, I can see making an exception for gizzards.

If you use them for fishing, fried fish eggs are great too, breaded and fried. We live around lots of lakes and rivers and go fishing often, nothing better during laying season than big egg sacks breaded and fried with salt and pepper.
My wife who is from out west thought it sounded gross, until she tried them.

Yes I'm really southern and if you can deep fry it then it's edible.
