Title: Movie name
Post by: myusername on December 09, 2007, 03:37:12 PM
Great website. It's an excellent resource for those hard to find films and it seems like there are a lot of helpful people here.

Anyhoo, there's a sci-fi /horror movie I'm looking for that I believe was made in the 70's.The only part I remember is that there was a guy running down a hill through the woods.During that time you get some brief glimpses of his face that is severely disfigured as if going through a grotesque transformation. He comes to a house and enters through a bedroom window. He seems quite disturbed (naturally) by what is happening to him and a young woman tries to console him while he's lying in bed and even brings him a plate of food, which I think was fried chicken.

Here are coupe of things I'm not sure about. This man actually may have been a family member that was deliriously running around. It's also possible that the man might not have gone in the house but looked in the window and scared the people ( the man in the bed and woman by his side) who were in the bedroom.

Sorry I couldn't provide a more specific description but I only saw the move (or part of it) when I was a kid.I'm pretty sure the movie was in color too but mostly had a darker or more muted look. Thanks for any help you can provide !

this is a larry buchanan movie that he made twice, the 1st one is called the year 2889,can't recall the second title, but it's an episode of mst,it was the home game...i'm pretty sure i'm right,as the disfigured guy is another character's brother, the girl and her dad give them, and some others, shelter after a nuclear attack.there's also a monster,he was the girl's fiance...does this sound right,i hope?

It could be "In the Year 2889" or even the original, a Roger Corman production called "Day the World Ended" from 1955.  Obviously, based on the timeframe stated, "In the Year 2889" sounds like the best choice.

Do you remember anything more about the film?  In both of the ones mentioned above, there is an older man with a younger daughter.  A bunch of people fleeing the nuclear destruction of the rest of the world end up in the valley with the pair.  One of the new men is hurt, radiation burns, and starts turning into a monster.

A BIG thanks to both of you as I checked out some screenshots of "In the Year 2889" and that sure looks like it to me ! I'll have to see if I can find some clips of the movie to be completely sure but at this point there's little doubt that was the film since the "monster" (poor guy) looks just as I remember.

Though I don't remember all that much about the movie (the scene described was pretty much it) I do remember feeling sorry for the guy and that even though the movie was low budget it still did a good job at creating tension and a genuine creepiness. You guys are good !

The original, "Day the World Ended" is a much better film.  I'd check it out, because I think you will like it better than the remake.  Of course, your mileage may vary.
