my husband just told me that pretty woman is being remade.as if that's not bad enough,since the 1st one sucked on toast,guess who the star is?????JESSICA SIMPSON!!!

I think Jessica Simpson would be a much more believable hooker than Julia Roberts.

Jessica Simpson can't act to save her life but she's hot as long as she doesn't smile. Then she turns into a Fembot and it creeps me out a bit.

So now we get another version with a bad actress who will look more like what most guys look for in a hooker, but who will still come off as a big tease with a heart of gold. Who they gonna get for the Richard gere role, Josh Hartnett? Paul Walker? The Rock? Or since he's supposed to be a little older, Patrick Dempesy?

How about a version with all the other fun stuff that's a part of turning tricks: STDs, arrests, pimps, beatings, drug addiction, ugly johns, acting out bizarre and sick fantasies and fetishes, paying off crooked cops (money not always required), unwanted pregnancies, quickie abortions, broken families, runaway teenage girls, humiliation, degradation, scorn, the bottom rungs of the porn ladder, on and on and on.

I know it's just a movie, but the first one always annoyed me for being such a sugercoated fantasy. Think Simpson's character will be seen sleeping with anyone other than the male lead?

i heartily agree,the sugarcoating is disgusting,i knew working girls in the combat zone,they would come into my joke shop to warm up in the winter.NONE of them had good lives,and only one is still alive 25 years later.she was lucky,she went to jail for 2 years and got her life together with alot of help,she runs a ashelter now...

As for a Pretty Woman remake please God somebody just bash me the back of the head with a sledge hammer.

Maybe I'll just borrow that stick for awhile and walk around hitting myself just like the old flagellates. Maybe if I just cause myself enough self-inflicted pain God will call back the bad remake plague.

Pretty Woman was kind of stupid to begin with -- a streetwalker tames a corporate raider into being a shipbuilder.  Yeah.  That happens all of no times.

PRETTY WOMAN is one of my wife's favorite movies.  So, we get to watch it from time to time.   :thumbup:

Now, before I get BLASTED on this...keep in mind this is the same lady who digs PLEDGE NIGHT (and bought me a copy for our tenth anniversary) and all manners of horror flicks.

I write this one up to Scott's predilection for GIGLI.  You just cannot explain how movies will grab some folks....

I don't even see, in any way shape or form, why a remake is necessary for this film, even for the money.  Hell, I don't even see money as being part of it.  I see this as being released directly into the Wal-Mart $5 dump bin right next to From Justin to Kelly and Gigli.  The only idea that could possibly be worse would be remaking a movie that's only two-years-old. *coughthehostcough*

True enough. It's not that old a movie that it needs to be updated, and it is by no means a classic worthy of reinterpretation.

I actually liked Pretty Woman when it came out.  But I didn't buy into the fantasy of beautiful hooker nabs rich corporate raider guy.

Still, a remake would be very bad.  And Jessica Simpson in the lead role?   :buggedout:  She's obviously taking career advice from Britney Spears!
