Title: Best Bad Movie of 2007 (5 Slimes division)
Post by: Rev. Powell on December 27, 2007, 09:35:48 PM
So which of these 2007 movies was actually a GOOD bad movie?

I've not seen any of the films on that list.

For the most part, I don't pay a whole lot of attention to what Hollywierd is putting out these days.  Since getting my Netflix membership (Christmas gift from my wife a couple of years ago!!!    ), I've put my movie energy mostly into older stuff, like a ton of 50's sci fi, some Hammer productions and some of the old stand-by classics that I just never got around to seeing.

And, I'm going for the occasional relook of classics, too.  I've got THE GUNS OF NAVARONE in there now; it got preempted for Christmas night's viewing by FRANKENHOOKER, but what can I say?   :bouncegiggle:

We do watch a few newer movies on DVD via Netflix, but none on that particular. Pirates III is in my queue, though (from your worst-of list).

I vote Black Sheep --
While some of the others here have "good" intentions, only Black Sheep for me got all the conventions right:
Stupid Mad Scientists
Weird Mutants
NO CGI!!!!
Well, very little cgi . . . how many? . . . six . . . rather a lot, really . . .
Evil Industrialists Mad With Power!! Bwaahahaha!!
. . . aannnd some great laughs!
Some of the gore put me off a bit, but ultimately I thought the over-the-top nature of the gore was in keeping with the tone of the film.
It really only got a bit too much for me at the party scene, which in retrospect was okay --
Plus it had one of the best stupid B-movie/Bad Movie endings in that it trotted out the old "The End . . . Or Is It?" convention.  Classic Camembert . . .

Darn it, I haven't seen any of the movies on your good or bad list.  I hate it when I can't vote in a poll  :teddyr:

BLACK SHEEP rocked!! What a great film - it had everything a classic B-movie needs except, perhaps, a tad of (female) nudity . . . but frankly, you don't notice the lack.

I seen a good portion of whats on that list and Its a tough call. I just saw Tripper about 10 mintues ago and loved how they when masked Regean starts to kill the hippies they play my favortie punk band Regean Youth song "We are Regean Youth hey hey hey". And Wrong Turn Two had a very overtop Henry Rollins playing a Marine killing mutated rednecks. and Flight Of the Living Dead had well zombies on a plane which is just so awesome. So you can see the dilemma. I have seen 30 Days Of Night and Sweeny Todd but I didn't feel their the best. Haven't seen Hachet or The Mist but their in my Netflix.

I think it close tie for me for Behind The Mask or Black Sheep. I think I will go with Black Sheep as Zombie sheep are the best idea ever.

How come no Severance or Grindhouse films on the list? Maybe I'm being to greedy :)

I'm going to nominate "300".  Best bad movie I've seen in a long time.

On the other hand, you did get moments of tenderness between the farmer and his sheep.

Been wanting to see TRIPPER for a while now....hard for me to buy new movies or go to see anything at the Strand-as they play only Hollywood junk.

FLIGHT of the LIVING DEAD? Wow. Would LOVE to see that one! My finacial situation is soooo f#cked lately...I won't be able to EAT soon...ugh...it's depressing...I'm laid off for two weeks...I have to refinace my mortgage or watch my payments skyrocket...gawd dam......! :bluesad:

I was out of work from November '06 to January '07, when I got a terrible job at a car dealership.  I got fired from that in March, and finally got the great job I work at now in August.  We were on food stamps & public assistance for awhile there, and the Unemployment checks ran out the same week I got hired -- Phew!
Now I'm actually paying off all the debt I ran up & can breathe more freely again & devote more time to theatrical pursuits --
* * *
Moral:  Don't lose hope & do believe that it will get better!!!  Interest rates are falling again, so a refinance may be in your best interest after all -- Hang in there --

Peter- I can't imagine working at a car dealership.  I'm literally terrified of those places

SEVERANCE was nominated but I didn't put it in because IMDB showed it was released in 2006.  It might not have been released in the US until 2007, though, because everyone seems to think its a 2007 release.  GRINDHOUSE should have been included in the list, on second thought.

Not bad at all.

Hm, the same as for the "Worst bad movie of 2007"-list: Have heard of half of them, but seen none. However, this time that buggers me a lot. I'd love to see Black Sheep. It didn't make it to the theaters here, so I have to wait for the dvd (should actually be out by now). Same for Zombies on a plane, ehm ...Flight of the living dead. And probably Sweeny Todd...

sorry but i think Sweeney Todd, The Mist, and 30 days of night shouldnt be up there.

but The Tripper gets my vote! ALOT better than i thought it was going to be.

Hatchet actually fell kind of short of my expectations, while the gore was fantastic and so was the setting, idk it felt thinner than it should have been. mabey i need to watch it again idk.
