Title: the Baseball bunch
Post by: lester1/2jr on January 04, 2008, 09:58:29 AM
I'm surprised thishasn't been rereleased on DVD though it would probably not be of much interst to old tv buffs OR baseball fans.  talk about answering your own question.

This was hosted by hall of fame catcher Johny Bench.  each week ozzie smith or George Brett  or some other star would come and teach the kids a lesson on fielding or something.  I never missed it.

"we got a hunch you'll love the baseball bunch!"

As a kid who sucked at sports especially baseball I used to loathe this show, just reminded me how bad I was. I only knew who Johnny Bench was originally from those spray paint commercials (for Krylon?) he did on TV when I was a kid. Plus it aired in the late morning here, when it came on I knew the cartoons were over, usually chore time started.

Even if there weren't enough interest for a DVD release, I'm surprised something like ESPN Classic wouldn't show it if only for the kitsch value or may be to mock it like that show with the Sklar Bros. watching old wrestling shows and such.
