When we lived near Houston my daughter was in the fourth grade and got accepted into the schools gifted and talented program. In her regular classroom the last 40 minutes of each day was set aside to study for the TAAS (Texas Academic Assessment) test. She was exempted from this in order to attend her GT class and had to tolerate berating remarks from her teacher constantly about it. All they gave a damn about was making good scores on this test so the school would get more money. |
