I've seen the trailer all over.  Looks like it could be a good "alternate pre-history" movie (the trailer features tons of people riding on trained mammoths, for instance), but on the other hand, there are these chilling words: "A Roland Emmerich Film."

Here's the trailer:

The title is actually 10,000BC.  It looks to feature some Cro-Magnon types being enslaved by some more advanced civilization (Egyptian?).  Anyway, the trailer included mammoths, saber tooths, and pyramid building.

Most definetly alternate history... most likely due to the fact that most mammoths died out after the Ice Age. Despite some interesting looking creatures, it will most definetly be bad because that trailer featured a form of plain bad acting.

Theres 50/60s cheesy bad acting which is fun and then theres poor attempts at being serious bad acting, which this film looks like.

I may go see it.  You can criticize Emmerich all you want, but his movies tend to be mindless action popcorn epics like ID4. They're fun to watch, but when you walk out of the theater you suddenly think about how stupid it was.

Well with a movie named 10,000 B.C. I am not expecting high theater played out by bards in perfect iambic pentameter. So bring on the popcorn and turn off the brain; just sit back and enjoy.

It looks pretty good, I'll have to go check it out.

I don't know...
For some reason I have no desire at all to see this.
The animals, especially the sabretooth tiger look way too CG.
If it gets great reviews, I may go see it in the theater but it's more than likely that I'll wait until it's released on home video to watch it.

I just want it to have a sequel: 9,999 B.C.

I'm  just upset about the dinosaurs I saw in one commercial for it. First of all, human and dinosaurs never cohabitated Earth. NAVER. I don't care what the Flintstones said, it didn't happen. Even if it is an "a;ternate history" movie, it's still impossible. Large mammles like mammoths and humans couldn't have evolved if they faced the threat of large predators like dinosaurs. It wouldn't happen.

It is all Barney's fault! That Purple Devil!!! He started all this Homo/Saurian nonsense. :hatred:

When will end, Mr. Speaker! I ask you, when will it end!!  :hatred:

While it is entirely true that humans and dinosaurs never coexisted, the creature I think you are referring to looked to me like a terror bird (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terror_bird).  Of course, they're almost as problematic being as they went extinct ~2 million years ago and only lived in the New World.

Here's a synopsis of the film. It's interesting that I was thinking about this  the other day and kinda wondered if the civilization portrayed would some how be tied to Stargate (it's not, of course).

I watched this last week on payperview.  It's really not a bad movie if you view is strictly as a fantasy and ignore all the historical inaccuracies.

I thought the Mammoths and the terror-birds were done pretty well.  Actually the plot was sorta like Mel Gibson's Apocalypto.
