This was just infuriating. Almost as bad as the Black Christmas remake. Note to Rob Zombie: stick to music, fella.
I hear they're going to remake Motel Hell. Why God, why????

I started a pretty long thread about this movie when I saw it some time ago.  I personally liked it a lot, especially the back story on MM.  Others were more of your opinion, and many others were neutral.  To each his own, I say.

I loved the remake.  Thought it was pretty well done.  It's a remake, so it's supposed to be different.  Psycho (the remake) didn't work at all, and that was a shot by shot replica.  Remakes/reimaginings should be different, otherwise there's really no point in doing it.

I also heard of a Child's Play remake, being done by the exact same production team.  Why?  They could just continue on as is, no remake needed.  What's needed is Chucky taking his family cross country on a vacation or something.

I enjoyed this one as well. I've come to think differently on remakes lately. Sure, I wish Hollywood suits would come up with something original rather than the endless stream of remakes these days, but I always have the original version to enjoy.

Because an original consept for a movie is unthinkable nowadays. Its unheard of. Everything is either a sequel, a remake, a rekake of a remake, a parody, a video game adaptation, a book adaptation, or a comic book adaptation.

See, the back story is why I boycotted it. The reason MM was scary was because he was soulless. He just truly was a monster. There was no way to sympathize nor empathize with him. Putting some kind of back story to him creates something you can recognize and understand with. Thus, destroying everything that made him truly terrifying.

I saw it and tried to go into it with an open mind as I really liked The Devil's Rejects but I was sorely let down.

If Rob Zombie had just made the movie about a white trash serial killer instead of him becoming/being Michael Myers, than he might have been onto something quite effective. The 1st half of the movie where Rob was doing his own thing had some good moments but then the 2nd half happened and it becomes in some places a shot-for-shot remake and a poor one at that.

I'd like to see them on Dr. Phil, or at least in a family therapy situation.  On the Seed of Chucky dvd, they did have a photo reel of the family on vacation at like, in Paris, in Chicago etc, with dead bodies in the background.  I'd like to see it in action.

I thought it was very poor. Malcolm McDowell was good, but it was just dull, especially the second half.
