Title: Hobbit movie possibly in jeopardy

New Line is holding out on the Tolkein Estate.  Looks like the same crap they were pulling on Peter Jackson.

This is sad. Its not like New Line is stiffing some other group Hollywood flunkies. I'm not saying Peter Jackson is a flunky. I'm just saying that Peter Jackson is one of them and they play these games with each other, thus the writer's strike. No, they are essentially screwing a charity. Great job New Line, not only are you biting the hand that fed you, you are biting the head that will feed you again and is working to spread some good in the world to boot. Do they not understand that The Hobbit will make them money? They understood the contract and who held the rights to what. Stupid... stupid... stupid.

New Line actually may not be around much longer, in its present form. As I understand it,  Time Warner, which is the parent company for New Line, wants to make New Line a part of Warner Brothers, which Time Warner also owns, and have New Line return to making low-budget films, which it started out doing
