Title: Blu-Ray officially wins war; Toshiba kills HD-DVD

Not entirely unexpected, I know, but I didn't see anyone else commenting on it.

Toshiba drops out of HD DVD war (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7252172.stm)

Now we just have to wait for the prices to come down.
I refuse to pay $29.99 for a movie.

Sigh.... HD-DVD... we hardly knew ye.  :bluesad:
Chalk up another victory for super-mega-conglomerate Sony, a company that is slowly devouring the world.

Dunno.. been told there's no real difference in the quality between the two.  I guess they gave up on the idea of the "hybrid" players (that is, DVD player that can play both formats.)

Would be neat thought to have something like all three of the Lord of the Rings films on ONE DVD or something (or are they not QUITE that big?)

Course, in about a decade, I'm sure something else will come out that'll make Blue-Ray look like VHS.
