this is from a coworker who is driving me insane with this,please help!he says he rented it about 3 years ago,and he thought lance hendrickson was in it.this guy and his son are traveling through the desert,and they stop at a farm/ranch,where the dad gets a job.the kid is weirded out by the owner and ends up finding out that the owner is killing little kids and building an ark out of their bones out in the desert.he says he went to rent it again,and the video store told him it had been pulled off the shelves.help!

I remember that movie.  I want to say it has the word "Lamb" in it.  It was a good movie.  I saw it about 10 or so years ago.  I will rack my brain to find the answer.

i think nathan is right,it's not the garden.i asked steve,he doesn't remember any cutting involved,and he'd remember that for sure,since he has experience with that syndrome.

any new leads(she asks hopefully)?

This is a hard one.  I can see the end of the movie.  The killer is chasing the kids in the cave with the Ark and then he gets shot or impaled.  I am going to try Kris Kristoferson (he made movies like this too) in the good o' IMDB.

john,steve says that's DEFINITELY how it ended!the guy gets impaled,with what steve thinks is some kind of scythe...

I've searched everywhere I know, and googled every combination of keywords I could think of, and I just cannot find a movie that fits.

The ark in this movie, is it ark as in a boat or ark as in a box for carrying something? Or is it an arch?

it's an ark,as in boat,the guy is making it from the bones of kids he kills.i KNOW i read a book like this,but i can't find that either!

Is it possible your friend is thinking of the first quarter of Lord of Illusions? Sounds very similar.
Lord... opens with a cult in the desert sacrificing people (kids) and they've got bones tied up in weird, ritualistic ways. Could be seen as "altar" or "ark" like.
Just an idea. Maybe bunk . . .

It is not Lord of Illusions (great movie).  This movie, if memory serves me correct, is kind of a thriller movie.  I will still look.

I hope I can find it soon, it is driving me crazy.

A (somewhat weak) Lance Henriksen-lookalike, desert setting, a father and son - thing, religious nut trying to build an ark... maybe:

Slaughter of the Innocents (1994)

The father is a FBI agent, however.

That is it!!! You are our savior.  How dare that actor confuse us with his impersonation.  I am going to rent this movie and watch it.
