Title: The Wicker Man (1973) -slight spoilage
Post by: clockworkcanary on April 15, 2008, 01:12:28 PM
If you haven't seen this movie or if you don't know much about it, stop reading right now and go watch it.

This movie came out during my birth year.  Watched this one again recently and even on the second viewing I still found it pretty enjoyable.  I didn't care for some of the hokey clothes and some of the songs were definitely dated (however the Willow's Song kicks all kinds of ass) but loved the mood/atmosphere/symbolism.  Christopher Lee rocks every scene he's in, as always.  And I really enjoyed the ending - watched it with a couple others who had never seen or even heard of it before and they loved it -they totally didn't see it coming at all.

I have yet to see the Cage Remake of 2006 but I did watch a few select scenes on youtube and I could not believe my eyes!  All I can say is bees, bear suit, and Cage battering women.  I think I might have to review/compare/contrast both of them once I give the 2006 version a full watch.

As much as I do like Nick Cage, I think I'll give the remake a pass --
Some things shouldn't be messed with --
Having said that, I do think it's time someone did a remake of "The Devil Rides Out", as far as Hammer remakes go --
With all the advances in modern special effects, the demonic attack sequences could be downright amazing --
