With the exception of a couple of stinkers I downloaded off Public Domain Torrents, I don't think I've actually sat through a feature length production this year.

Mostly, it's been locally produced shorts at the monthly Project Resolution. There's a couple others around town that I keep meaning to check out, but never get around to it.

One of these locals put out a feature length project The Godening! I was thinking about mentioning it in the "Movies you're embarrassed of liking" thread, but I figured it was too obscure.

Since the first of the year? B-Movies I've seen:

FLIGHT TO MARS
DEVIL GIRL FROM MARS
BIKINI BLOOD BATH
THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD (okay, not "bad" in any sense)
DEATH RACE 2000

Not a long list.

Oh Jeez a bunch of them ... just tonight's movies are  Delta Delta DIE and Phil the Alien.

Late night, I watch a lot of movie, some good ... many bad. I'd be hard pressed to list them all. I bought nearly all the Fullmoon Features box set early this year and I've been working my way threw them, not to mention the usual bad movie fair I watch on Chiller. I'd guess I've seen about 75-100+ truly bad movies this year.

they sound terrible but surely DEATH RACE 2000 is not from this year. as for the others I don't know...I was basically talking about bad movies that have been released in 2008 so far...maybe didn't make that clear...

Phil the Alien? 'Phil' me in on this flick...any good? sounds hilarious.

Probably about half of the Sci-Fi Channel Originals that came out this year.

Rock Monster - fair.  Kids find a sword in a Romanian forest, pull it out of the ground, the rock monster comes to life.  Characters were okay, effects were moderately interesting, story was a bit dull.

Ogre - fair.  Kids stumble across a small town "lost in time".  It's still 100 years ago there.  Evil dude has an Ogre that requires sacrifices each year.  Kids battle it, while simultaneously annoying the audience with their obnoxious inability to grasp the situation they're in.

The Hive - good.  Ants are attacking villagers on a small island, and Tom Wopat (Luke Duke!) and his band of professional ant killers stand in their way.  Good cornball plot, acting was okay, a couple of pretty girls.

Warbirds - lousy.  WWII WASP crew pilots a bomber to a small island near Japan.  Make emergency landing due to pterodactyl attack.  Acting was awful, script was awful, story was moderately interesting.  I turned it off a half hour before the end.

Funny, I must have seen a dozen of these things at least, but they're hard to remember.

Other than that, I bought Dangerous Worry Dolls, Full Moon's latest movie.  It was fair.  Women in prison flick, except with very little nudity.  The trailer was better than the movie.  It was interesting enough, but nothing special.

Oh, sorry.  None of those are FROM this year...those are some that I've seen THIS year.

I COMPLETELY misunderstood your question.

I have not seen ANY 2008 movies.

Hmmm . . . I'm not sure I've seen any movies released in 2008.  There hasn't been much at the theaters to interest me yet.  Probably the worst movie I have seen this year is THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 (the one that came out last year).  I enjoyed the remake of THE HILLS HAVE EYES from a couple years ago, but part 2 is awful.

It's funny stupid if you know what I mean. It's watchable and enjoyable but at times they try to hard to be funny and come up short but it still has it's moments. It's a rent it and not a buy it. As with any B-Movie it could have been greatly improved with the addition of random topless shots, but alas there are none. So I'd think that without the GBS (Gratuitous Boob Shots) a 6 pack is in order.

Per IMDB ...

Quote from: IMDB
Near a backwoods Ontario small town, a young alien, on vacation, crashes in his ship. Disoriented, this confused young extraterrestrial is captured by a young boy who, after naming him Phil, introduces him to the stupor of hard liquor before the boy's hick father throws him out. Roaring drunk and bunking with a friendly talking beaver, Phil eventually wanders into a bar where his new addiction traps him even while he wants to go home. Meanwhile, a secret US black ops organization activates a drunken field agent to find the alien. However, while he searches, Phil's easily manipulated personality leads him down paths that profoundly affect his new native friends.

One Missed Call (2008) had its share of good, mediocre and bad moments. The bad ones were quite funny though.
The exorcism of a cellphone was the highlight no doubt.

Lake Placid 2!! -- definitely a 2008 release --
Hammy acting from a "great white hunter" villain with a retro-Negro sidekick straight out of a 1940's jungle picture.  Numerous unintentional laughs & numerous plot holes, plus numerous giant crocodiles!!  Just awful enough to enjoy.  Cloris Leachman chews some scenery & is just plain fun.  How she could keep a straight face through it all is amazing in itself.  I'd say see it with drunken friends.

Hmmmm...I've seen this one (http://www.badmovies.org/forum/index.php/topic,114449.0.html) and posted about it on 2007.

Was I in a time warp?   :bouncegiggle:

I can't remember if it was earlier this year or late last year, I saw "Battle of the Worlds". I couldn't help noticing a number of similarities between this one & the Polonia Brother's "Blood Red Planet", but I'm not gonna suffer though either of these stinkers all over again just to verify my hypothesis.

Mesa of Lost Women - Started off promising imo, but I wound up spending the rest of the movie waiting for that busty brunette to do something else besides stand around staring at people.

This afternoon, I pulled out my old VHS of "Star Wars" (the original one, before all the revisionism), but I guess it doesn't count as bad.

I'm afraid not! I tracked down all of Uwe Boll's post-House of the Dead movies to watch with my "bad movie buddy" (we saw House of the Dead ages ago and had a blast MST3K-ing that mess of a film) and it was almost disappointing how underrated these films are. We were expecting more HotD awfulness and got decently made, enjoyable movies, it was almost disappointing, in a pleasant kind of way.

Lake Placid 2 --
I guess it's the state of Colorado that's in the time warp, as I didn't see this on the shelves here until Feb. of this year.  And it's still on the shelf at our local store as a "new release for '08" & here it is the end of April --
Oops --
Still a good bad'un, though!

I bought a real stinker blind.  The biggest waste of $5 I've ever made.
The cover looked good, the blurb on the back was enough to pique my curiousity, but the film itself was a total stink fest.
It's a little number called Bloodlines.
I'm gonna go home and write up a review on it now actually.  Be prepared.

I think I saw that one - may have even written it up here. Worst thing I've seen lately was BLOOD CAR.  It was so promising and had a few fun moments, but the ending was a real letdown.

Blood Car in my NetFlix queue are you saying I should remove it?

You can read my earlier post to decide.  It did have some good moments, but the ending kinda ruined it for me.  The premise was sure original!

I recently saw Steven Seagals "Pistol Whipped."  In Seagal's later films he always refers to himself as the 'bad guy.'  Also, for some reason he talks like he's from the streets and has interracial relationships with beautiful young women...AND he calls everyone 'white boy.'

I wrote down some quotes from this one as Seagal writing his own lines equals great hilarity:

Daughter: I know that, Daddy.  I saw your face.  Something was bothering you.

Matt: Yeah, but, ya know.  Daddy shouldn’t let stuff like that get in the way of…Daddy/Daughter relations.  I’m gonna try to never let that happen again and…uh…live up to my responsibility to always be there for you.

________________________________

After a long night of Seagal’s gelatin like body rubbing up against Drea he rewards her pity with two eggs…cooked!
Drea: You cook?
Matt: Yeah, man.  I cook; I clean; I wash dishes; I do it all.
Drea: *giggle*
Matt: But, uh…actually, no, I don’t cook.  Any man can fry a f*cking egg

________________________________

Seagal graciously allows Drea to talk about herself and her interests.  She tells him that she’s a graphic designer and complains about the industry…Seagal responds with his usual rapist like wit.

Drea: …and after, like, a bunch of years.  I finally realized what I really needed to do was grow a d*ck.
Matt: Well, probably, I would like you a lot less if you had a d*ck.  Especially if it was bigger than mine.
Drea: I don’t think that’s possible.

I forgot to mention that Seagal's character is named Matt, but that's probably obvious.  Seagal writing his own dialogue also gives us a glimpse at the ego that lies beneath that wig made entirely out of pubic hair.  He can't be stopped!
