Title: Ant Movie Post by: Ed, Ego and Superego on May 15, 2008, 03:12:31 PM The post in the "Strage News" board prompted me... A movie, 1970's about ant colonies that show more intelligence than they should. At one point they form circles on circuit boards and short out electical equipment. It got good rotation in Up All Night in the 80's. Its nota gaint ant movie, just the small kind.

They were so powerful they could chew through wood and metal in a few seconds. I have the VHS of this, and have been waiting patiently for a DVD release for years.

The ants in "Phase IV" are the smart ones. They are trying to get at the scientists who are in a super-modern dome shelter. I haven't watched it in years, but your mention of them shorting out the circuits in the dome's systems sparked a brain cell. Among them is "Phase IV." You can view the (not very impressive) cover art for "Phase IV" and all the other films HERE (http://www.dvddrive-in.com/features/legendfilmspromo.htm). While this is good news, there still isn't a street date. :bluesad:

That was a VERY serious movie....no campy sci-fi there! Good film. (Why are serious movies called films? :question:)
