I honestly have no idea what thread to place this movie in.  It is flat out the strangest thing I've seen since they showed ZARDOZ on IFC.  I'll admit, it was late and I was sleepy, but this is still one more VERY strange film.  It has the feel and flavor of something from the early 70's, but with fairly sophisticated modern CGI.  Here is the plot synopsis from IMDB:

This movie is set in the year 2095, hence the presence of mutant humans and extraterrestrials. The main character is known as Jill (Linda Hardy). She is not human. When she is discovered by Dr Elma Turner (Charlotte Rampling) she is diagnosed as being the most interesting genetic test subject Turner has ever come across. Her organs are not in the right place, she has no memory and she appears, biologically to be only three months old. Turner gives her a break, gives her an identity card and a place to stay, in exchange for being her guinea-pig to work on and discover more about. Nicopol is a frozen prisoner who is due to be released a year after the film is set. There is a problem in the prisoner ward and several are thrown down to grow (dying in the process), including Nicopol (but only his leg). There is a lot more to this story but I can't disclose it in this summary, I don't have the words.


He doesn't mention the floating pyramid in the sky over New York, the presence of the Egyptian gods Horus, Isis, and Osiris (the latter two kill time playing Monopoly while Horus goes in search of a mate), the bizarre mix of real footage over an obviously CGI background, or the fact that Jill has blue nipples.  In short, this movie is over-the-top bizarre but strangely compelling.  I've never seen anything quite like it - I get the feeling I might understand it better if I used drugs.

This is a complementary post to insure that IndianaSmith receives at least one reply to a movie thread he has started. Had these been and actual post it would have contained reply, analogy, and deep meaningful insight. This concludes this post.

Please do not remind me of this movie. It easily tops my list of the most annoying movies I've watched. I explained all in an earlier thread which must still be somewhere around this board.

Perhaps the movie works better if you're not familiar with the original comic books by Enki Bilal. If you are, the weirdness of his world is less surprising. In fact it toned down in the film version. That, combined with bad voice acting, lame story and less than impressive CGI make this an excruciatingly boring movie.

Oh, and I don't think it comes out in the film, Jill not only has blue nipples, all her hair is blue as well.
