Title: Bad movies that would make great video games
Post by: Patient7 on June 08, 2008, 02:36:38 PM
I recently learned that there used to be some Evil Dead video games on some older systems, I think that if they were to make one for the Wii it would be fantastic.  Using the controller as his chainsaw and the nunchuck as the boomstick, I would be LOVIN' IT!!!

What about you any bad movies you think would make an astounding video game?

p.s. If anyone works in the video game industry, feel free to use that.

While I don't know if they'd make great video games, I do have some ideas of how certain bad movies could be turned into video games.  Certain parts of the story might have to be changed.  And since I'm not in the video game indusrty, the best I think I can due is relate my ideas to exisitg games.

Creature with the Atomic Brain becomes a social stealth game like Assassign's Creed or possible Metal gear Soild.  As the hero-you try to keep the populace from pancing by taking out the villians mind-controlled zombies by observing how they interact with other-and not make a scence yourself.  Then you would have to get the creature alone to kill it.

Ray Harryhausen's Sinbad movies  or Mysterious Island could be made into Action adventure games in the style of Prince of Persia.

In the Mouth of Maddness is just asking for an Eternal Darkness style game.

Decent games propably could be made out of Prince of Space or Time Chasers.

Then there could be Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Game.  The bases for this one is Guitar hero.  Press the right button at the correct time to hear the jokes and advance the movie on screen.  You could select Mike or Joel (Crow and Tom are always avalible) and be able to unlock the others like Dr. Clayton Forrester, Brain Guy (Observer) Prof. Bobo, TV's Frank, Gypsy and the rest.

Dead Alive-the lawnmower as a weapon seems to stick out.  Or you could use a Kung Fu wielding priest.

Hills Have Eyes/Texas Chainsaw/Motel hell/Spider Baby "cooking" contest. After Soylent Green becomes a hit, you choose one of the 4 teams to cook humans in your own special way, ala Cooking Mama with more variety, and present them to your host, top-chef Hannibal Lector! Oh yeah, you kinda have to hunt them down first. Final boss? Bad Taste aliens and mass-marketing

Just think, a PS3 version of the flick Megaforce!  Ride around on motorcycles that shoot rockets in no particular direction!  Laugh at animated hologram pigs!  Try to woo Persis Khambatta!  Unlock the ability to play as the villain Henry Silva!  Earn experience points to apply to making your package appear bigger in your licensed Megaforce suit!  Have Barry Bostwick do all of his own voice work for the game!

Talk about a mega seller.......................or not.   :teddyr:

The Sword and the Sorcerer, of course!!!  You have to try to save your dad from being beheaded by Cromwell in order to earn the triple-bladed crossbow sword thing!

Not a bad movie, but I think The Gods Must Be Crazy would make a great video game: you could have one level with people ducking Coke bottles and another where you creep around, shooting people in the bum with an arrow.  :teddyr:

I am seeing the makers of TGMBC next week: maybe I should pass this on to them?

For anyone unaware, there was actually a MegaForce game released on the Atari 2600 back in the days when they'd make a game about any and every movie property... mainly because the games already existed and had nothing to do with the license in question with the exception of box and cartridge art. We remember the infamous A-Team game where you play as a giant flying Mr. T head shooting bad guys with laser eyes, right? Anyway, the MF game is supposed to be coming out via XBox Live sometime this year, though it was originally announced for last year so there's no telling when it'll finally come out if at all.

My suggestion would have to be a Re-Animator game in the vein (har har) of the Trauma Center titles! As an additional difficulty the creations you stitch together could regain consciousness while you're working on them and attack you, forcing you into a mini-game where you have to struggle against them and try to sedate them so you can finish your work!

I'd also like to play a game based on The Brain From Planet Arous where whole point is to manipulate and possess powerful government types and work your way toward ruling or destroying the world. It's not really enough material for a full on game, but it could be cool as an original creation for WiiWare, XBox Live, or whatever PS3 people have.

The Toxic Avenger would make a great adventure game or platform game.  You play as Toxie and your goal is clear up Tromaville from evil.  The game would start after you turn into Toxie then the bosses of each stage would be the enemies that he beat-up/killed in the film.

As one of the few genuine members of the "Manos is not that bad" coalition, I can see the elements there, but it would be a bit short...

The games were never that great technically, but the fact we were getting Evil Dead games was astounding. And now...

Best. Game. Commercial. EVER! :teddyr:

Actually, Death Race 2000 was based off of a game from the 70's, you basically drive a car around and run over stick figures, it was notorious for being extremley violent whic is strange considering how violent some games today are.

I think something similar to the game Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (came out a couple years back) but based around Fiend Without a Face would be cool -- difficult though, since for most of the game your enemies would be invisible.

There's an old Japanese movie called Yoki: spiritual warfare.  G-Fan did an article and I've seen some clips on youtube. (regreatbly-not seen the entire thing itself)  but I think it could be made into a game.  You'd control the native demons and fight the invading one.

Dark City could also be made into a cool game.
