Title: WTFFILM would love to know what's (the) Happening [2008] Post by: wtffilm on June 16, 2008, 12:28:31 AM The Happening [2008] M. Night Shyamalan
http://www.wtf-film.com/ARTICLES/JUNE_2008/THEHAPPENING.shtml "With a purported $57,000,000 behind it, THE HAPPENING comes across as little more than 90 or so minutes of expensively unrealized potential." I remember that there was a huge hate thread for this film in the forum somewhere, but it didn't come up when I did a search for it. Anyway, this one wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought it might be from all the commentary I've read.
It wasn't as good as some of M. Night's earlier films, but it was still a fairly solid little horror movie with some genuinely creepy moments. The "lawnmower scene" was incredibly creepy! The denoument was weak, I thought, but overall I rather enjoyed this movie. BTW, I never did see M. Night do his usual cameo . . . did I just miss it? I had been putting it off because i was so disappointed with lady in the water. Then after I saw a documentary on him (which was layed on so thick it could have passed for tiramisu) I have a sort of loathing for him. However, The Happening was alot better than I thought it would be and Miss Jones was generally creepy (coming from the mountains, i can attest that there are actually people like her). I too was on the look-out for a cameo appearance by M, however I missed it. Has anyone saw it, or did he just leave himself out this time Title: Re: WTFFILM would love to know what's (the) Happening [2008] Post by: Jack on November 11, 2008, 07:57:53 AM One of my kids went to this and when I asked her how it was, I just got a rolling of the eyes and an "oh gawd...".
