Damn! The first comedy album I ever bought my parent took away from me! (AM/FM) RIP George thanks for a million laughs. I'm stunned. I grew up listening to George Carlin (which may explain a lot about me). I got to see him live a few years ago, and it was the one of the funniest shows I ever went to. So long, Mr. Carlin. You will be missed. Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: Shadow on June 23, 2008, 01:11:38 AM Damn. Just...damn. :bluesad:
He was one of my favorite funny men. A true comedy legend. He'll be sorely missed. Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: Mr. DS on June 23, 2008, 06:49:46 AM If there was one guy I could relate to it was George. A great mind is gone... :bluesad:
RIP...thank you for the laughs and trying to make fum of idiotic things in our society. Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: AndyC on June 23, 2008, 07:37:05 AM Now that is a shock. Carlin always seemed younger than he obviously was. Was a huge fan of his back in high school.
I guess there's only one thing to say about it: "Sh!t, p!ss, f**k, c*nt, C**ksucker, motherf**ker, t!ts!" Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: KYGOTC on June 23, 2008, 08:29:54 AM oohhh that silly man. Hope he has a good afterlife.
Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: Allhallowsday on June 23, 2008, 10:37:45 AM This is a major loss. I'm a long-time admirer of GEORGE CARLIN. We will miss him. Good night George!
Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: enemy on June 23, 2008, 11:00:47 AM I heard about this early this morning, and I was shocked. We've lost a great mind and a great comedian.
If only it was Dane Cook... Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: Torgo on June 23, 2008, 02:29:52 PM R.I.P. Mr. Carlin. You were easily one of the funniest men ever to walk the planet.
Say hello to Richard Pryor, John Belushi and Sam Kinison for me..... :bluesad: Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: Patient7 on June 23, 2008, 03:53:51 PM Say hello to Richard Pryor, John Belushi and Sam Kinison for me..... :bluesad: Don't forget about the Three Stooges, Georgie. And Bob Hope. RIP Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: SynapticBoomstick on June 23, 2008, 04:45:36 PM The day I knew would come but always dreaded :-(
The one good side is that the afterlife has to have the best Comic Revue ever. That's assuming his soul isn't stuck on the roof. Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: ghouck on June 23, 2008, 05:02:26 PM Now that is a shock. I guess there's only one thing to say about it: "Sh!t, p!ss, f**k, c*nt, C**ksucker, motherf**ker, t!ts!" Or his tried and true "Rat Sh!t, Bat Sh!t, Dirty old Tw@t, Sixty-Nine @$$holes tied in a knot. Hooray, Lizard Sh!t, , F**K!" I will miss him, but you know, wherever they are, He and Richard Pryor are hanging out together. Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: AndyC on June 23, 2008, 06:21:16 PM No doubt Lenny Bruce is with them.
Does anyone else find it ironic that we are talking about George Carlin's afterlife? Can't imagine what he'd say about that. Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: Andrew on June 23, 2008, 08:28:36 PM What I always liked about him, and what usually makes me appreciate comedy, is that he found a simple truth, then pointed out how crazy it is. He had many routines like that, but one I remember was him talking about "your s**t" and how, when you went places, you were steadily required to cut down, and down, and down, until you just had the essential things - what you could not live without.
RIP Mr. Carlin, whose narration of the "Thomas and Friends" (yes, the children's stories) always threw me for a loop. Title: Re: Comedian George Carlin Dies at 71 Post by: AndyC on June 23, 2008, 11:15:53 PM Quite a tribute to him on the public radio station I was listening to on the way home from work. Among other things, they played this entire routine:
