Just went to see it with my family today.

What particularly struck me, honestly, was that before the film played, there were multiple Disney movie previews.  They were all Nickelodeon-grade annoying.  One was a godawful-looking movie about CG'd chihuahuas.  I felt physical pain watching it -- it took talking dog stupid movies to a new and unwelcome low.

And after watching those crappy, churned-out Disney crap-fest so-called "animations," then the Pixar short and the film played... and let me tell you, if the Onion gives a movie an A, it's probably true.  (Not always, but probably.)

WALL-E is a beautiful and sweet movie that is thick on character-making and fairly simple in plot.  Heavy political commentary at times, but for the most part it's a love story, nearly devoid of dialogue -- and at times your jaw will drop, at Pixar's deft ability to imbue the inanimate with feelings and expressiveness.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute, and when it was over, I remembered what I already knew:  none of the other animation studies are even in the (Pulp Fiction Jules') "ballpark" with Pixar.  Not even close.

Tues - Going to see Wanted.

Wed - Going to take my daughter to see Wall-E.

It's finally getting to the point that the summer movies are hitting their full swing.  I cannot wait to see Wall-E.  I've been excited about it ever since I caught the early teaser before Ratatouille last year.

You got that right.  Pixar is cleaning their clocks.

Today is my daughter's birthday. We are having a big cookout for her today but as part of her birthday we are going to take her to see Wall-e. She had been dead set on going to see kung fu panda, but since she's seen the previews for Wall-e; I haven't even heard mention of Kung fu Panda. It seems that Wall-e is really grabbing the kids. But hey, what kid doesn't like robots?

I read an interview in the paper today and the creators actually weren't thinking about ecology at all when they decided to fill Earth with garbage, things just turned out that way in creation.

Still this looks like a really good movie and I hope to see it.

I so desperately want to see this.  But I may wait til next weekend.

There is heavy commentary on consumerism, obesity, the sedentary lifestyle, the ecology, and individuality -- you'll see what I mean when you see it.

I would like to see it too, Zap: the trailer I have cracks me up where the Pixar study lamp logo's bulb burns out, enter Wall-E who fixes it, pats the lamp on the head and leaves, only to knock over the R in Pixar.  :teddyr:

I do see some similarities between Wall-E and Number Five from Short Circuit as many others have.

I'm sure there is a lot of social commentary, after all it is a movie about a janitorial robot left on a trash filled Earth then goes on to an intergalactic cruise ship piloted by a morbidly obese captain.  I just said that it wasn't their intention early on.  Still, maybe this will hypnotize small children into not destroying the planet.

We went to see WALL-E at the drive-in last night.

I LOVED it....the whole family did.

For what it's worth, and I'm as put-off by 'social commentary'  in movies as anybody I know, I did not find this movie to contain too much of that at all.  I saw it as back-drop for the story of this one little quirky robot.  It's what made him who/what he was - what defined him.

Well, the 'commentary' aspects sure didn't detract from the story for me at all.

As I said, I loved this movie.  Best Pixar release in at least a couple of years, imo.

I thought that Wall-E was great and quite a risk for Pixar as most of the movie is devoid of normal dialogue.  The only place I felt the film faltered just a little bit was during the last act as I thought that that even though the film ended logically, I still feel that they could've maybe done it in not quite as rushed of a manner as they did.  But this is yet another winner from Pixar and anyone who just likes great movies should go see it. Whether you have kids or not doesn't matter, this is a movie that ANYONE can enjoy.
