I collect old bottles. Mostly soda pop bottles...but I got some others too...
I have old Pepsi,Nehi,Canda Dry Ginger Ale,Bubble Up,Korker (the OK Refreasher!) ,a regional RC Cola salutes WLAV AM/FM Raft Race from 'August 16,1975'-(LAV played Dr.Demento and all the 'cool' rock music,like Sabbath and Nugent and Aerosmith at the time!), a 1973 7-Up Notre Dame salute bottle, the old Mountain Dew bottles...with the Hillbilly and the pig.  i'll upload some pictures once Tara gets her camera fixed....but...does anyone elese collect old bottles?

My dad used to collect old bottles. Mostly milk bottles, with the dairy names embossed on them, but he had quite a few other kinds. I used to get a kick out of the old pop bottles that were capped with a glass ball held by the pressure inside - just push in the ball and drink. Those and the iconic Canadian stubby beer bottles (as seen in Strange Brew) that went out of use in the 1980s.

I remember Dad used to go to auction sales and flea markets all the time, looking for bottles. The best ones, to him, were from dairies that operated in towns not to far away. He gradually slowed down on the collecting, but he had shelves of the things. When he and my mom moved out of their house and into a seniors' complex, he sold the whole collection for, I think, about $3,000. He probably could have gotten more selling it in smaller lots, but my dad is not one to mess around with such things. Collectors tried to buy this bottle or that bottle, but it was all or nothing. Get it sold in one shot.

I got some old regional milk bottles too...and some medicine bottles and a real cool old CLOROX bleach brown bottle.
I Found most of mine walking out in the woods in old jumkyards....it's a fun way to get out and explore.

I collect to many things and bottles are on the list, I work on old houses and I find a lot of them under house, in walls, attics about everywhere. I've found some nice ones and some rare ones.

I have boxes and boxes of them, I have a few out on display. I rotate them ever so often. The ones I like best are the old wood mold hand blown ones, mostly used in late 1700's early 1800's tonics and snake oils.

Wow, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who collects old bottles! I have numerous from the early part of the 20th century. I tend to favor bottles that have little or no words on/in them, though patterns are ok. Other than that little nitpick, just about any shape or color will do.

Tara Sue (the wifey) has lotsa real old bottles too.  Little tiny thick blue ones,orange juice bottles,medicine bottles,lotsa old Ball Mason jars...lotta of 'em lined up in a China cabienet and on a kitchen shelf. Tara collects old EVERYTHING. I think thats why we feel in love. We're both pack rats. Our house is crammed with ancient junk.  Toys,books dating back to the late 1800's, plates and bowls and pots and pans and waaaaaaaay too many sewing machines and typewriters. Candlesticks, assorted brick a brac-like a porcelion stautue of Satan with the greeting "Welcome to Hell,Michigan" a huge brass cat ready too pounce,old tobacco tins,an old Edison film can, commeritive plates honoring the Queens visit to Canada in the 1930's,hanging bottle openers,junk,junk JUNK! AH!
Even the furniture is old and creaky. A wooden folding chair here,an old piano which only here cats play...(though her son Jim tries to), an old creaky endtable whose leg keeps falling off there, an old wire magazine rack loaded with old LIFE and LOOK magazines...ugh! It doesn't help that dead in the center of town is an old service station that has been turned into a summer long junk sale by old old Mr.Price and his wife.  He sells everyting -old record albums,tools,fishing lures and poles,books,lawm mowers,bikes,this that and the other. On Saterdays I like to walk around and look at the junk.It's half indoors where they used to service cars,and half out in front,where the gas pumps used to be. It still says ONE WAY AUTO in faded red letterin' on the old concrete building.

It may seem to be a useless obsession,but someday when we die,the kids can sell all this old crap and make a few bucks.

My Uncle had an auction a few years ago, selling off my Grandparent's old stuff.  I was amazed at what some of those old fishing lures went for, $70 bucks for a little piece of wood. 

I don't go dig for bottles, but I find them in creeks occasionally when I am arrowhead hunting.  Love the old patent medicine bottles from the 180's - DR BELL'S PINE TAR HONEY FOR COUGHS AND COLDS and such.

The best place to dig for old bottle is where old outhouses use to be, people use to toss them in the privy. So old outhouse sites are great for bottles and coins. Any waste matter has long decayed into dirt.

I've got a friend in Kentucky who specializes in digging old privies . . . he has found some really cool stuff. 

My mom about 5 or 6 years ago was really into getting old items for the house (Bottles to some extent) but things like old tins, old toys, old posters for beauty products.  I'm not into as much for collection old bottles I have more than enough stuff as it is.  What I collect jumps from time to time for different things.  Stamps when I was younger, Lighters a few years ago, now it's pretty much trinkets and such from other countries.
 

Funny you should mention that! When I lived in the tiny house on Walker St.,we had an old outhouse out back....and me and the boys went 'treasure' hunting....we found old wine bottles (lota them! Must be where the ol'boy did his drinkin'!) ,a few old spoons and forks(?), an ancient beer crate, and some tiny animal skulls....the kids thought that was real exciting..."Maybe theye're dinosauer bones,Dad!" heheh...
