Title: Info on a wrestling movie
Post by: yaddo42 on March 11, 2002, 12:10:20 AM
Does anyone know anything about a b-grade wrestling movie called Blood Circus? The IMDB has very little info on it, but it's been bugging me for years.

In the late 80s/early90s, a local TV station used to run an infommercial plugging a line of what looked like cheapo trashy jewelry. The show hammered home that the owner of the jewelry line was a guy called Santo Gold and he had produced, starred in, and wrote and sang  the music in this film, Blood Circus, as a way to promote his products. The voice-over narrator kept calling it "the first wrestling/horror movie" (yeah right). He also had a weird voice that reminded me of the voice-over guy from all those trailers for low-budget horror flicks from the 70s. No one else I know remembers this thing, but the infommercial was so odd I used to try to watch whenever it was on. Too bad I couldnn't tape it. It ran for about a year but only on this one low-rent station in our area.

The only scenes from the flick I remember are: The wrestlers scattering when the bad guy/alien/monster (?), who I think was dressed as a mummy, enters what looks like a gym locker room. Someone opening a car trunk and finding a (very fake looking) human head. And Santo Gold walking out onto a stage to sing what the infommercial claimed was the big musical number; it mostly seemed to consist of the guy in big sunglasses and a fake mustache shouting "Santo Gold! Santo Gold!" over the music. The only wrestlers I recognized were "Big" John Stud and "Exotic" Adrian Street. Any info you can provide about the movie or even the infommercial would be greatly appreciated

I remember the infomercial, but don't know any more about the movie than you do. The only cheesy wrestling movie I saw in the 80s was a mockumentary called Grunt: The Wrestling Movie. Anybody remember that one?

I got a copy of grunt when one of our local videos stores shut down.

Oh, I remember the SANTO GOLD commercial, but remember nothing of the wrestler or the movie. Wish I could see it though.
