No.7 - JUDAS! - Gerard Butler didn't make the greatest rendition of Dracula, but the cool part about Dracula 2000 was that the Count was re-imagined as none other than the guy who sold out Christ. Didn't see that coming!  :buggedout:

RCMerchant,

Wow, Thanks for posting EL VAMPIRO. Haven't been ever able to find a copy of this film.  The clip gave me a good image of the film. Typical b/w Mexican Horror film filled with fog and atmosphere. Loved it even if El Vampiro looked a bit silly.

He's actually the police detective disgused as a vampire . . .  but still a great-looking blood sucker even if he is a fake!

If Chaney fake but terrific-looking vampire isn't acceptable, here's Robert Quarry as bona fide vampire COUT YORGA:

Yes, it's campy, but William Marshall plays his vampire straught abd does a great job!  Part of the appeal of this film is the discrepancy between the terrible material and Marchall's performance/

I thought of nominating Zandor Vorkov... but he hardly qualifies as a "great" vampire.

29. QUEEN OF BLOOD (1966)

During the 60's A.I.P. imported several foreign space epics, mostly Italian and Russian movies, and added new footage with future and past American stars. Most of these films were as exciting as watching paint dry. Oil paint.

QUEEN OF BLOOD is an exception. It's really a frightening and creepy movie featuring an female alien vampire who lays big goopy eggs all over the Earth spaceship! Florence Marley played the blood-sucking ET.

Also Starring: Basil Rathbone, Dennis Hopper, John Saxon, and Forrest J. Ackerman.

  (http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l79/RCMerchant/untitled-152.jpg) (http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l79/RCMerchant/untitled-153.jpg)

Much like AIP's other teen age monster films...should have been called I WAS a TEENAGE VAMPIRE.
Nancy looks very much like the daughter of Max Shreck, with pointy bat ears and long front teeth.

Kind of a were-vampire...as she only turns when hypnotized by an amulut from Carpathia which contains the blood of Dracula (hence the title).

33. The thoroughly evil resurrected Count Mitterhaus, as played by Robert Tayman, in VAMPIRE CIRCUS. Actually there's an host of others from this same film one could nominate but he is the lead.

He's in the second photo taken from this montage, the photo right after the Vampire Circus title credits. Couldn't find individual pics featuring the character despite his being a very cool vampire.

38. Martin Madahas (John Amplas) from MARTIN (1977)

Things only seem to be magic. There is no real magic. There's no real magic ever.
Martin

Is Martin really an 84 year-old vampire or a troubled teen with homicidal tendencies?

We never know for sure, but George Romero's version of the vampire legend is one of the best and most thoughtful horror films from the 70's.
