Title: Tekken Live-Action (2009)
Post by: Psycho Circus on September 14, 2008, 03:47:29 PM
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411951/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0411951/)

Directed by Dwight H. Little, who helmed; Halloween 4, Free Willy 2, Marked For Death & Rapid Fire. He's also done a ton of work on TV serials.

I know full well this is going to both blow & suck at the same time. Example "Mortal Kombat" movie was crap, but I loved it at the time and for it's time it was a good game to movie conversion. Recently the world was handed a steaming turd in the form of "Dead Or Alive". It will remain to be seen if this film will stay true to the game, I know already that it does not follow the first at all, as many early characters are missing and later characters are present. There's no Paul, THERE'S NO KING!  :hatred: So I hate it already, how hard is it to get some real life wrestler and stick a lions head on him? Yet, they've got an American guy playing Yoshimitsu? If they can't manage King, yet they can Yoshimitsu, I'm assuming the budget is blown on silly CGI. Otherwise it's safe to say the Yoshimitsu character will be changed completely! Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Heihachi...WTF! How will that work? Is he going to pile on about 200lbs? Also, Gary Daniels (Fist Of The North Star) is playing Bryan Fury which I agree is a good choice there, apart from Gary can't act his way out of a paper bag.

A live-action Tekken film should have been made over ten years ago, this is just going to p**s fans of the series off as it has done me already. It'll be in cinema's about 2-3 weeks and then be straight in with the bargain-bin DVD's. Prove me wrong Crystal Sky Pictures....Dear Lord!

One has to ask why they suddenly decided to make a "Tekken" movie.  I do not follow the gaming world closely, but have not heard of an sort of resurgence of the franchise.

Oh well, at least Boll is not directing it...

Well, I'll watch, but be sad that King isn't in it. He's always been my favorite..

Random Question: Is there a Soul Caliber movie being made? That would be interesting...

I know, King is also my favourite Tekken fighter.

As for Soul Calibur/Blade/Edge....there's nothing in the pipeline to my knowledge.

Its pretty obvious that the movie will not inspire the Academy to start thinking of who to pass the Oscars to, it will certainly spark enough interest to get poeple to blog and complain like we all are doing here.  Ill probably end up seeing it anyway because im such a fan of the series but i wont be in the bargain bins trying to buy it for five dollars when surplus comes a problem with the dvds.  Mortal kombat and street fighter were HORRIBLE renditions and Dragonball looks like its gonna be crap as well so dont expect any renditions of games/cartoons to be really good.

Maybe that's why it's being made.  It would be easier to get the rights if everyone wasn't grabbing for them.  Plus, the game creator might hope to use this to start the resurgence of the franchise.

They've been talking about this for eons.  Unlike the Metroid movie, it sounds like this one's going to happen.
