Title: Superjail
Post by: AnubisVonMojo on October 10, 2008, 07:47:39 PM
The newest addition to the Adult Swim line-up is a strange creature indeed. I you haven't seen it, the show takes place at an underground science-fictiony prison installation filled with the most violent cast of killers to wear orange jumpsuits. Security for Superjail is provided by a multi-purpose Swim Army robot of doom (that kinda reminds me of Gameboy from the latter years of Captain N...) and a sadistic hulking she-male guard. Running the show is a Willy Wonka-like character known as the Warden (voiced by former member of "The State", David Wain) and his manic pint-sized ex-alcoholic sidekick. The art style is very simplified and reminds me a bit of something by Bill Plympton or something that would've been shown on MTV's "Liquid Television" or "Cartoon Sushi". Come to think of it, my fiancee probably said it best when she asked if it was drawn by the same people who did "The Head". It's very rough and violent and it fits the motif. The third episode debuts Sunday night on Cartoon Network, but it's available for viewing now on AdultSwim.com. It's not nearly as funny as something like "The Venture Brothers", and it's not really a laugh-out-loud show, but I think it's definitely weird enough and just funny enough that I'll keep watching. :teddyr:

Anybody else seen "Superjail"?

I like it too, I love all the weird comedy shows on Adult Swim right now. For the most part, the state of comedy on TV would be pretty boring lately without Adult Swim.
