I can not imagine anything more barbaric than that practice. It isone of the few things that make me truly cringe when I hear it mentioned.

"Female circumcision" is about the stupidest euphemism I've ever heard, for a practice that is in no way analogous to male circumcision, other than involving a sharp instrument applied to the naughty bits. The male equivalent to this would be chopping the head off with a rusty kitchen knife. It's a sobering thought that such practices are still going on in other parts of the world.
