I came home earlier and saw this news report and found myself being quite shocked. I don't know why, but I feel bad for OJ.  :bluesad:

I don't  He should have gone to jail, or the death chamber, in 1996.  Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Not even the full force of Police Squad (even Al!) is getting Nordberg out of trouble this time...

But seriously, if I ever got a miracle verdict like the one he got in '96, I would be a shut-in the rest of my life. Or at least a model f'ing citizen. How do you go and do something like that when you know half of the nation is gunning for you after a monumental upset decision got you to walk away from a very suspicious murder rap? Say it ain't so, O.J.! Say it ain't so!

IMHO the sentence OJ got today was excessive and no matter what the judge said, the shade of the 1995 verdict did play a part in these present proceedings, start to finish. That said, I think OJ Simpson was guilty as charged of the 1994 crimes and is probably a psychopath or at the very least a self-centered person long used to getting what he wanted without apparent consequence.

I agree with Rat Bat, if I bought my way out of a double murder rap, I wouldn't even break the speed limit for the rest of my life.  If he thought this guy stole some of his sports memorabilia, why in the world didn't he just call the cops, or file a claim in court?  Or at least go over to demand the stuff back WITHOUT bringing armed gunmen along.  If it was me, I'd be ticked that somebody stole my stuff, but then I'd think to myself "Well, I got away with murder, this guy's only getting away with theft.  I guess I can live with that."

He is clearly very arrogant and definitely deserved to be jailed for the robbery itself.

I agree.  I'm not at all unhappy to see OJ finally punished, but this definitely has the feel of what NFL referees refer to as a "make-up call."

I don't feel the least bit sorry for him, though.  There are plenty of completely innocent victims of much worse injustices to feel sorry for.

God is just, and His Justice cannot sleep forever.  I am not saying OJ can never be forgiven.  I am just saying that forgiveness cannot and should not negate the consequences of a  monstrous crime that killed two people.
