Title: Which Television Chef's Food Would You Like To Try?
Post by: Mr. DS on December 09, 2008, 05:01:51 PM
I was going to make this a poll but there is too many to list.  Here are my top choices;

My top choice;
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2c/ChenKenichi.JPG)
Iron Chef Ken Kenichi  - I love spicy food and what better dish to have than the son of the god of Szechuan cuisine.

Julia Child - The all time grand pooba of cooking.

Rob Rainford (License To Grill) - This guy is awesome at grilling and has given many good ideas for marinades.  His outside grill set up is a temple to the grilling gods.

Gordon Ramsey - After watching Hell's Kitchen the past few seasons, a lot of his dishes look awesome.

Bobby Flay - Granted I don't personally like his shows, his TexMex cooking style appeals to my taste.

Marco Pierre White

All his seafood dishes look awesome.

I've eaten at his Las Vegas restaurant a couple times; highly recommended if you're ever in town.

The Swedish Chef. Not for the food, but for the entertainment.

What a great question. Channeling my inner Food Network junky here...

Alton Brown fixes the best and most versatile stuff out there. End of story. Definitely him. There's your answer.

As for the rest:

Rachael Ray...I may be burntout on her and think she sold her soul but she still fixes great-looking food. She'd be the runner-up.

Emeril...nah.

Bobby Flay seems like he'd be a jerk, doesn't impress me, and he seems obsessed with barbeque. The time he jumped onto the counter during his Iron Chef face off years ago said a lot about him.

Mario Batali, the poor guy looks like a heart attack in progress, so I'll pass for my own self-preservation.

Giana De Laurentis: the producers may not be doing her talents any favors by stressing her cutenes before her competence, so I'll pass.

Paula Deen. Hmm. I know she's beloved and has 'upscale down home down pat' but somehow I've never warmed to her.

Iron Chef Morimoto. He da man but he's also vaguely intimidating.

Anthony Bourdain is a cool guy, love to hang with him a while on one of his No Reservations trips, but his cooking hasn't impressed me. (Yes, I know, he's not on TFN anymore.)

So there ya go. Alton Brown by a landslide. And what a fun question this was!

Lidia Bastianich has a show on PBS. She's all about the Italian Table. She makes incredible looking meals while casually chatting away about her family or childhood. Watching her show is like hanging out with your Grandma, without the references to Wheel of Fortune and that Damn Franklin Roosevelt!  Just watching her shows is a pick me up and actually pulling off one of her meals?.....Molto Bene!

One that goes way back. Graham Kerr. My sister use to call him the chipmunk, because when he smiled, he reminded her of Chip 'n' Dale.

LIDIA is my favorite TV chef, and I generally enjoy straight forward cooking shows (but not bonehedz like SANDRA LEE, PAULA DEAN, or RACHEL RAY).

Martin Yan would good as I like chinese, then again Hiroyuki Sakai would be great for Asian-French fusion food and although he is dead now Justin Wilson could make so mean Cajun food (Anyone remember him?).

But as for which Chef I would like to TRY .... hmmm
how about I try Giada De Laurentiis

I bet she's got GREAT MUFFINS.

Anybody else remember this spot-on Iron Chef skit from SNL?

"Blue jeans on fire... Chevrolet Elvis... Blue jeans on fire... New York, let's go!"
