Finally picked up three classics on DVD that I had wanted for a long time:

Citizen Kane
Sunset Blvd
Touch of Evil

Those are the three that jump to mind.

The Innocents.
Any film that can scare you before the opening credits is a winner in my book.

Alfred Hitchcock's LIFEBOAT.
You just watched LIFEBOAT?  Wasn't that a treat?  Did you spot HITCHCOCK's cameo...?

REV, I just watched HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND for the first time this year, too!   :teddyr:  BELA had recommended it to me, so I bought it.  Loved it's sheer stupidity!

I bought LA DOLCE VITA this year, and watched it for the first time in a very long time.  I will say, this time I understood it.   :bluesad:

HIGH SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL

Wild Strawberries and Beauty And The Beast (1948) on DVD. Two classics from two master directors. I had only seen these two gems on the computer before. But, as this was my first year ever to have the internet, I celebrated with a Netflix account with all the bells and whistles. I LOVE NETFLIX!!! There are so many marvels on the site that every time I change my queue, I actually do a little dance; a rousing mix of the hand jive and the robot, FYI. For the people who don't have one yet and love classic movies, get an account ASAP.

I was going to respond what a great year you had... BUT, I NOW SEE AFTER A QUICK CHECK THAT THE LITTLE FUGITIVE is the title of a film I've been looking for for about 10 years!!!  I just ordered it off of Amazon.  I LOVE you!!!

First viewing:
Curse of the Demon - pretty good horror movie.
City of the Dead - very good movie with Christopher Lee in a small role.
IT!  The terror From Beyond Space - fair movie, probably the original Alien movie.  Not too exciting though.
Invasion of the Star Creatures - Ooh, stinky stinky pooh pooh!  Space babes were pretty hot though.

Re-watched:
The Flesh Eaters - like this one a lot.
The Monster the Changed the World - always a fun one.

Got a few more I recorded at Halloween I haven't watched yet, all the "House of..." and "Son/Daughter/Wife of..."  Frankenstein, Dracula, etc.

Um, you're welcome?  I saw Little Fugitive a relatively long time ago, but I didn't know what it was called at the time, and I wondered about it for a long time.  Sometime later, maybe a couple years ago, now, I spotted a DVD of it at a local library branch.  A sense of recognition clicked and I had to see it.  It's such a simple film, but I love it for that reason.

For those who haven't seen it, it's about a little bo who's tricked into thinking that he's shot and killed his older brother.  He gets scared and runs away to Coney Island.  The viewer is essentially watching a kid roam around Coney Island doing whatever, but I love its atmosphere (I usually like anything involving carnivals and such) and its natural quality.

jack- is the flesh eaters the one where they are on the island?  that is a good movie.  nazi doctor or something?

Also, I forgot I saw "the Snorkel", an early 60's apparently rare hammer suspense thriller on TCM.  It was very good

Flesh Eaters is a fun one, and surprisingly gory.  The DVD release is a lot better than I thought would ever be available.

Ingmar Bergman's "Hour of The Wolf" --
Had been meaning to see it for years, but just never got around to it -- Best thing in black and white or color that I've seen in some time.  You can see where Wim Wenders got some of his imagry for "Wings of Desire".

Teenagers From Outer Space

I love this movie.  It's got that super serious acting with incredibly cheap special effects.  I read one review of it once that was like "these peopel act like they are making Ben-Hur"

I think this was the year I finally watched Psycho from start to finish. I watched a lot this year and can't recall any other BWs, save for another Hitchcock directed movie I finally got around to the other night.

The 39 steps. A not bad spy chaser with a bit of ham and cheese but a crisp pickle.

There's something so delightfully alien about old movies now that we're in the internet age. Sure there was something delightfully old about them before, but now the distance between the 1930s and the previous 700 years somehow seems shorter than the following 70.
