There's a treasure, a girl, a grand vizier, a comic relief deckhand, an evil wizard, and stop-motion monsters. Come on, what else do you need to know? It's a Sinbad movie, for cying out loud! Just relax and enjoy. Tom Baker as Koura is probably the best Sinbad movie villain. He's willing to squash anyone who gets in his way but there's also a quiet desperation about him. I was almost rooting for him to find the treasure instead of Sinbad. Hell, he'd been looking for it a lot longer! Koura also has an interesting little quirk. If he uses his black magic, he ages, so he only calls up the Demons of Darkness if absolutely necessary. He mostly relies upon a box of alchemical supplies he carries around. (That's not something I've never seen before, but I haven't seen it that often.) This is the Sinbad movie with the animate Kali statue. I've heard a lot about it over the years, and it surpassed my every expectation! That part of the movie is seriously cool! Koura animates the statue, makes it dance, and then has it fight Sinbad and several of his men at once. Ray Harryhausen's Kali is one of the best animated beasties of all time, equalling any other stop-motion or CGI that I've seen. The battle itself can stand right up there with the best swordfights in movie history. If you haven't seen this one, go watch it right now. What a great movie!!!

Sitting in the balcony at the ol' Strand theater,throwing popcorn down at the kids below...what a Saterday Matinee movie should be! Plus Caroline Munroe!!! Hubba Hubba,Bubba! :twirl:

John Philip Law and Tom Baker were both great in this and you could tell they were both having a lot of fun with their respective parts. And of course Caroline Munroe was unbelievably hot as always ;)
