Most enjoy a Trek film even if they don't like the programme.

I think I know who's gonna get most votes.

The Wrath of Khan is my favorite.  It's just a good movie, period, even if you've never seen or heard of Star Trek before.

Wrath of Khan.  Yeah, predictable, I know.  Just a great drama.  I really liked The Motion Picture as well.

I like Wrath of Khan, but it's too short.
Everytime I watch it, I can't help but think that it needs to be at least a half hour longer.

I voted for Undiscovered Country.
It has an extremely engaging story and it is an important turning point in the Trek universe timeline.

Not a big fan of STAR TREK movies. I LOVED the original series,though...and WRATH of KHAN had more of the old Trek feel to it than any of them.

"Wrath Of Khan" and "First Contact" are my personal favourites although "The Undiscovered Country" is almost as entertaining.

Wrath of Khan is the sequel to a ST episode called Space Seed

[trevor rolls up sleeves for work] :teddyr:

Star Trek The Motion Picture:
I saw this when I was 12 and I enjoyed it very much. The visuals made me go wow then and now. I have never seen the Director's Cut, btw.

Star Trek 11 The Wrath of Khan
Great film, I cried like a baby at the end.

Star Trek 111 ~ The Search For Spock
"Jim.....your name is Jim....." ~ I got goosebumps when Leonard Nimoy said that line. Great film too ~ I was always wondering what Dame Judith Anderson was doing in this and I asked my Dad if it was the same actress who played Mrs Danvers in Hitchcock's "Rebecca": he said it was, so  to Dame Judith.

Star Trek IV ~ The Voyage Home
Loved it ~ I cried in the cinema when the whales are released and the crew go beserk, jumping into the water.

Star Trek V ~ The Final Frontier
I loved the start with the laughing Vulcan ~ that got me good. But those kak visual effects.............  :buggedout: :buggedout: :buggedout:

Star Trek V1 ~ The Undiscovered Country
Great film ~ that mind-rape scene made me go  :buggedout: though.

Star Trek: Generations
 :bluesad:

Star Trek: First Contact
The Queen of the Borg played by South African actress Alice Krige ~ her home language gave birth to the TREK part of Star Trek.

Star Trek: Insurrection
Yawwwwnnnn......"Lost Horizon" anyone?

Star Trek Nemesis
Great beginning, Marina Sirtis in a negligee, great visuals, villain trying to out-Khan Khan Singh, Marina Sirtis in a negligee, two Datas, imagining the entire male crew naked  :buggedout: and, if I didn't mention it before, Marina Sirtis in a negligee.  :cheers

The new Star Trek film: I am awaiting this release. I hope it will be good, now that Rick Berman has had his butt kicked off the lot.

I mistakenly bought the director's cut - I like the original better.  They toss in some extra effects, like when they're sitting in the Captain's quarters and you can see out the window towards the back of the ship, the added the warp nacelles which are pointed inward at about a 45% angle.  I dunno, that may (or may not) be correct as far as the perspective is concerned, but it just looks goofy.  They took out one of my favorite lines, Sulu saying "The new shields held".  They took out some of the long scenes of V'ger as the enterprise flew over it;  I guess most people thought that went on too long, but personally I loved it.  I mean, they come across this incredibly mysterious, incredibly powerful thing, I was fascinated and could have spent all day looking at it.

The Wrath of Khan is my personal favorite. Granted First Contact is a very close second.
Sadly I must disagree with those who liked Undiscovered Country. I always felt it was the worst film of the ones with the original crew and second worst of all of them. Only Insurrection was worse to me. Seriously, why does God need a starship?

I think Final Frontier was the God one...

THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY WAS NOT ABOUT GOD!!!!!!!
That was The Final Frountier, which was quite weak.  The Undiscovered Country is about a conspiricy between federation and Klingon factions, and was quite intense.

THE WRATH OF KHAN is the most literate, best-acted, and inspired of the bunch.

On the plus side, the director's cut did make a few things clearer. In the original, I never could sort out what V'ger looked like overall. It was kind of nice to see the whole thing and where all of those closeups fit in.

I liked The Motion Picture, but the one I've watched the most times, and could sit down and watch any time, is The Wrath of Khan. Best of the bunch, for sure. The Undiscovered Country, First Contact and The Voyage Home would also be high on my list.

Had to go with WRATH also.

But my favorite line from any of the films is in THE VOYAGE HOME. When they are briefly debating the possible effects on the future giving the businessman the formula for 'transparent aluminum' could have, Scotty asks "How do we know he didn't invent the thing?".

I also love Scotty's line "The beasties seem glad to see you, doctor."

Ok, here's my rundown of the films (Possible spoilers):

Star Trek, The Motion Picture:  Another snooze-fest from Robert Wise, who also gave us the plodding "Andromeda Strain".

Star Trek II : The Wrath of Khan: Yes, it's great, it's the best of the series, all that jazz, yadda yadda yadda.  RIP Ricardo Montalban.

Star Trek III: The Search For Spock:  Not terrible, but I didn't like how it negated the last film by killing Kirk's son and destroying Genesis (This is what I call 'pulling an Alien 3')

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home:  Not my favorite, but it's still very entertaining.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier: ...This is why William Shatner should never direct anything.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country: Very well done.  Nicholas Meyer was a brilliant director who never really got the credit he deserved.

Star Trek: Generations: Very disappointing.  I cried more when Data found his cat at the end, than when Kirk died.  Plus, I think that suddenly killing off Picard's family was an incredibly pointless and cruel thing to do, when you consider all he went through in the series.

Star Trek: First Contact:  This is actually my favorite in the series, with II not far behind.  Great story, awesome FX (Borg designed by HR Giger in this one), and terrific acting from the cast, along with Cromwell and Woodard.  This was the last great Star Trek movie ever made, for me.

Star Trek: Insurrection:  They really tried with this one, but they just couldn't get me to care about the plot, or the new characters.  At least Riker had the good taste to grow his beard back after this one, and spare us any more of his double chin.

Star Trek: Nemesis: The lame, derivative "evil twin" of an enemy is what killed this film for me.  Plus, I got really upset when they killed off Data.  Again, I saw no good reason for doing it.  If they were trying to evoke the same emotions that Spock's death created, then they failed miserably.

Here's hoping the reboot film will get this franchise back on track.

When Nemesis came out,the local 1 dollar theater had 3 consecutive weekends where you could pay 1 dollar and see 3 Star Trek movies.
First weekend  1-3(I skipped the first one)
second weekend  4-6(I saw all three and won a Captain Sisko action figure)
third weekend  Generations,First Contact and Insurrection(i stayed home)

Search for Spock actually had a pretty good musical score.

When I was younger I used to prefer #3 over #2, because it moved faster and the battle against the invisible Klingon ship. I recently re-watched the whole series again, and saw #3 has held up much worse than I expected. And I've started appreciating the little bits in #2, such as Kirk doning the glasses while he negotiates his surrender to Khan, or the battle in the nebula, which is still the best action bit in the series.

Next would be "First Contact", as it is the most gung ho and fun of the bunch by far, and finally parts I and VI, which I agree are good but really don't like that much.

As for the rest, just beam them out of my deck. NOW.

I watched 3 again today, and it's better than I first thought.
However, what is that pink thing with the collar that Chekov is wearing as they steal the Enterprise.

The Klingon stuff was poorly done. Their bridge looks like it was made on the cheap.

Oh, and Kirk gets over the death of his son pretty quickly.

You know, maybe the problem with #3 is that there is a good deal of tragedy in the plot, but it never gets the chance to extent its wings.

I mean, what we're talking here is the story of a man who gives away his career, his family and his ship just for a chance to have his friend back... and in the end he barely can recognise him. But Leonard Nimoy's direction, although it keeps the film in a darker tone than others in the series (just compare it to the next two entries), seems to be pulling its punches. Even that terrific shot of the Enterprise burning through the atmosphere of Genesis is too short. A few more seconds and it would have been genuinely heartbreaking.

I liked 3, but it works best when the whole story arc of 2,3,4 is watched together in one sitting. Aside from the events flowing from one movie to the next, the three of them together give you a good cross-section of Star Trek. You go from action/adventure to something dark and tragic to pure cheeky fun.

Favourite parts of The Search for Spock: The destruction of the Enterprise, John Larroquette as a Klingon, and a huge hunk of the plot ripped off from Star Blazers of all places.

2. 6, AND 1 (in that order, haven't seen TNG movies) because the characters were actually allowed to evolve within the story. The middle three films seem plagued with a kind of comfortable, conservative type of story telling that , essentially, allowed the actors to run the asylum. Too bad, because the Star Trek should have surpassed Star Wars.
