Title: Your first toy
Post by: Trevor on January 26, 2009, 01:41:02 AM
Do you remember what your first toy was? Do you still have it, perhaps?

This is my first toy ever ~ he is now a rather old gentleman (going on for 42) but I still have him sitting on my couch. :teddyr:

Just by the way, that is part of my flat in Pretoria ~ the stockpile of used undies has been stowed away. :buggedout: :buggedout:

This is a tough one.  I recall playing with a few toys at an early age.
1.) Willy Talk - Yes thats his name, he was a ventriloquist dummy.
2.) Spiderman action figure
3.) A Bert doll from Sesame Street

Trevor, that bear reminds me of a little bear I had as a kid.   Looking back now, it may be the earliest toy I had.  I think my great grandmother made it for me.

I have no clue... I remember a lot of old toys I used to have as a kid, but my first toy?  Not really..

I DO thought remember the FIRST toy I ever bought with my OWN money (as in, it wasn't a gift or present), it was this white figure with a remote control (one that had a cord connected to the robot) with simple buttons for getting the robot to roll back and forth and it's eyes to light up.    Also remember that one of it's fists has this white bar on it that you'd push and the fist would pop enough.  It was a lot of fun.

Course, I wasn't the best taking care of my stuff back then, so, after a while the remote broke, so I cut the cord from the back and just playing with the robot figure.

Man, wish I knew what this toy was called... ah, well.

Mippy, a stuffed mouse... he was sort of an upside-down pear shape with mouse ears and stuff added on.  He's in honored retirement on a high shelf in my daughter's room.

The earliest things I can remember; is some teddy bear whose eyes fell out, a little robot thing like Johnny 5 and one of those kids lawnmower things. Oh yeah, this thread just reminded me that I used to have clown wallpaper in my room as a toddler!

I had one of those toy cameras you look into and see a picture of an animal, which changes when you press the button. I hit my sister in the head with it when I was about 1 and she had to get a stitch or two for it. Shows her right for trying to take my camera from me. .

My first toy was a big stuffed yellow bear that I named "Bear Bear".
It was about 2-3 feet in length and I remember that his nose fell off.
Later, his fur turned a dingy shade of yellow from being handled so much.

I can't remember what happened to it.
My mother probably tossed it out in the trash years ago.

When I was 7, my father placed me, naked, on the back of his horse and rode out into the desert, where he dug a hole and told me to bury my first toy and a picture of my mother.

Can't remember what the toy was.

I definitely remember having a polar teddy bear in pink dungarese and a soft toy Woody Woodpecker.

Wasn't that the El Topo doll?

I had a red and white teddy bear, long, long gone now. I do have one other toy I was given at my birth a stuff horse with a rubber horse head on it. It's in a cedar chest.

The first toy I remember having was this ball with miniature carousel horses in it. They were covered in some sort of clear epoxy resin and it was weighted where the bottom of it would alway sit up. Think I was about 2 years old.
