Title: So...what are you wearing?
Post by: Mr. DS on February 04, 2009, 05:16:01 PM
So what are you wearing?   Of course asking that in a non-homoerotic way to the guys and non-perverted way to the ladies (though none of guys will fight you if you say 'nothing').   :bouncegiggle:

Seriously though, what do you usually wear to work or at home.  I keep it business casual (aka cargo pants and polo shirts) at work.   We are a professional office but we sometimes end up doing some dirty work in our fileroom.  At home I keep it to jeans and t-shirts.  In a different thread, I mentioned how I'm picky about my t-shirts.  I like 50/50 (polyester and cotton) only.  Right now I have an Atari shirt that I have worn past it's life expectancy that I refuse to throw away that I usually wear on the weekends.  Other than that, during the summer time I usually switch to wife-beaters (aka tank tops).

During the wintertime I wear Levi's jeans.  Whenever the temp drops below freezing, I always wear long underwear.  There's nothing worse than a cold blast of air running up your legs.
I usually wear plain colored earth tone t-shirts.  If not earth tones, it's usually black, blue or white.  I do have shirts with stuff written on them, but I don't wear them as often.
The shoes I wear are usually those fashionable work/hiking boots.  Usually that yellow color, though I do wear two pairs of brown and black Sketcher boots.

I don't wear jewelry.  Especially rings.  The feeling of a ring on my finger irritates the heck out of me.  That's something I'm gonna have to get over if I ever get married.  No peircings.
Sometimes I wear a silver chain around my neck.  It has to be silver because gold just doesn't go with my skin tone.

During summertime, I wear shorts 24/7.  I see those guys who always wear jeans in blazing hot weather and have to wonder about them.  Do they have super skinny veiny legs?  Is their self confidence low?
I also wear the same types of t-shirts I do in winter and will also wear tank tops and muscle shirts. (sleeveless shirts)
I wear usually white low top shoes with short socks.  I never understood how people can go without socks.  That would drive me crazy to wear shoes without socks.
I also wear flip-flops quite a bit in warmer weather.

And of course, I never go out without a trusty baseball hat on.

Many people have told me that I don't "dress my age".  They think I dress like I'm 10 years younger than I really am.  Nothing wrong with that.  Especially when most people who don't know me really do believe that I'm actually in my mid 20's.

I like kakhis (loose fit with cuffs) and a button down shirt or sweater.  I love sweaters.

To answer your question because I'm one of those guys, I don't have self esteem issues.  I just don't like the feel of shorts.  I used to wear them all the time and one day I just stopped wearing them.

I'd love to wear a new pair of socks every day.  I prefer the white ones Haynes makes in the medium neck.  I don't like the short ones or the ones that go up to the knee.  As for the sandals, I hate them mainly because mostly people who wear them have ghastly looking feet.  (http://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/2191_throwing_up.gif) No offense Ash, I'm sure you have lovely feet.   :bouncegiggle:

I used to wear hats all the time.  In the past 5 years I've kind of stopped.  I usually wear a knit cap in the winter along with gloves.

Thank You Darksider for hating flip flops!  No offense to the tons of people that live in flip flops (some of my best friends wear flip flops) - but I really had to get over the urge to vomit after this "fashion" trend spread like wildfire.  And you're absolutely right, it's like the nastier and crustier someone's feet are, the more likely they are to be sporting a pair of 8 year old worn out flip flops!  They make girls' postures look terrible widening their calves and shortening their legs - bLech! And they make guys look goofy when they try to run.  AND that horrible flip-flop tan line just makes feet look dirty.  I have adorable feet and I would never disgrace them by putting flip-flops on.. or crocs for that matter, but I don't really have a good argument for hating crocs.

What am I wearing? Hot Pants.  At the Office? Khaki Hot Pants.  At Home? Pink Hot Pants.  Winter? Red/Green Hot Pants.  Summer? White Hot Pants.

That's weird.  I've never heard of someone saying they don't like the feel of shorts.
Come to Iowa sometime when the temp is almost 100 degrees and the humidity is 100%.
I guarantee you'll want to put on a pair of shorts!
It isn't the heat...it's the humidity.  Anyone who wears jeans here will find them stuck to their legs in a matter of minutes.

As for flip-flops, I don't wear them all the time in the summer.  I'd say out of a 7 day week, I wear them at least 4-5 days.  I find them comfortable and only buy the expensive ones.  A nice pair of leather flip-flops may cost me $50, but they're worth it.  I would never buy the cheap ones.  And besides, in the lazy days of summer, it's a heckuva lot easier to slip them on than to put on shoes and tie up the laces when I'm just going to check the mail or run to the store.

Right now I'm wearing a fade old flannel shirt,my filthy green fishing hat,and blue jeans and work boots. I work I wear my shop uniform, which is dark blue shop pants and a blue workshirt with a patch that says 'Ron above one pocket and 'Honne Bear Canning' above the other. And work boots. And my fishing hat. When it's real cold I wear long johns or a union suit under them.

When I was young I usta wear lotsa rock band tees. Now I dress like an old farmer or factory worker...which I am.

I'm one of those who does like the feeling  of wearing shorts.  I used to, but I'm the kind of guy who sweats in 40 degree weather, and bare, sweaty legs just make me want to cry.  Hate the feel and the look.  Let me re-phrase that...MY bare, sweaty legs make me want to cry.

I've gotten used to wearing casual pants instead of jeans.  In the winter, they suck, but in the summer, I'm okay, even in black pants.

I hate flip-flops.  I envision hacking the feet off of every slack-jawed, brain-dead, mouth-breathing, back-water sh*thead (male or female) who makes even the slightest slap-slap sound with those things. And then rubbing the bloodied stumps in a vat of salt. Sea salt.

And I wear an earring. It is an expression of my faith. But my hair is so long that one person I've known now for six months suddenly realized I wore an earring.

If I could, I'd probably wear flannel shirts all year.  They are so comfortable, until the weather hits 70 degrees.  GACK!!

And I used to wear hats constantly as a teenager.  I wore a plastic batting helmet everyday for nearly a year or more.  Now I get weird if something is on my head.

Oh believe me, during the hottest day in RI it gets up there 100 with a ton of humidity.  Where am I located in the heat of the day, outside in my vegetable garden with jeans on.  Don't try to make sense of it Ash...its not worth it.   :bouncegiggle:

Thermal underware was mentioned ealier.  I usually wear the tops under a shirt.

At the present moment...

Relaxed Fit jeans.
Socks, calf-length, white.
A hunter green T-shirt, baggy, with images of the dice uses in Dungeons and Dragons and the words "Choose Your Weapon" emblazoned across the front.
My usual glasses.
A pair of 3-D glasses.
A serious expression (combined with the 3-D glasses, it has my roommate giggling uncontrollably).

I want to get that shirt and wear it every day for the rest of my life!  You're so cool.

I have to wear a work uniform, but that promptly gets removed as I walk in the front door of my home.

Winter, I usually wear jeans, Wranglers or Levi's.  I have five pair of shoes, mostly Airwalks and Boots, that I shuffle through, depending on the situation (staying home, going to clubs, etc,).  Shirts switch between t-shirts (with designs, ie: a Goonies t-shirt, South Park, etc., not plain white t), or sweatshirts/long sleeves, depending on weather.

Summers, it's shorts, t-shirts, Airwalk sneakers, and the little ankle socks.  I despise people in flip-flops and sandals.  Especially the tools who wear long jeans and flip flops or sandals.  If you're gonna be a tool and wear flip flops, do it properly and have shorts on.  But most would say I'm a fashion disaster.  I never know what's 'in fashion' or what to wear when I go out.  I could be out at the bar in a Big Bird t-shirt, some shorts and sneakers.  Which is probably why I don't get girls to go out with me. :teddyr:

Well, at work, I wear black pants and usually a polo shirt.  Clothing shopping is a bit of a pain for me, cause I'm pretty big (both tall and heavy), so finding something that fits good is a challenge, plus I've got this weird with my skin where certain designs and fabrics seem to make me itch and I don't know why.  Usually I just wear 100% cotton.

At home, unless I'm going out, I switch to sweatpants, t-shirt, and, in this weather, a pair (sometimes two) of socks.  (I change them when I come home from work.)  In warmer times, I'll usually wear shorts.  Now, if I'm going out in public, I'll usually trade the sweatpants for khakis.

My clothes aren't very stylish, because I prefer comfort (not to mention affordability) or fashion.

Oh, I don't wear watches, necklaces, or jewelry, it's just not me.

I usually wear gym shorts and a tee shirt cause they are comfortable. I do own jeans, button down shirts, and other clothing but only wear them if I have to. Usually if I have to go out int he cold, I will just put on some jogging pants over my gym shorts unless my wife tells me otherwise. Way I see it, I'm not planning on going anywhere most days so why should I put on anything that is going to be uncomfortable when I got comfortable clothes.

Except for Friday's and when I work from home it's business casual for me at the office. That means black dress pants, and either a polo shirt (if it's summer or not so cold old) or a dress shirt (if it's cold or it's raining in the summer).  I have been known on various times to wear a tie when I go to work while it's not a requirement for where I work.

At home I usually either wears jeans (usually int he summer or if company is over) and either

a-shirt
a t-shirt
polo shirts that I don't wear to work.

usually in colder weather I wear sweat pants around the house and a t-shirt.  I pretty lazy like that at home.  That's usually what I wear when I work from home on occasion

For work I tend to wear either a polo shirt or a rugby shirt with chinos and a pullover in winter. At home I tend to wear jeans or jogging bottoms with a t-shirt.

It's minus 5 degree celsius outside so I'm wearing a pair of long johns, XXL P.diddy shirt, knitted socks (very thick ones), my beloved wool cap and a super comfy bathrobe  :teddyr:
I also have a blanket nearby, just in case

Hmm right at the moment, I'm wearing Levi Jeans and a light brown T-shirt with a print on it. The print is of a motorcycle which I don't ride or know the least thing about. Just like the look of the print and the mix of light browns and dark browns on the Tee. I'm always wearing T-shirts like that and I tend to like brighter ones especially during the summer months. Love brown, orange, black, red and blue in T-shirts and I always prefer they have some type of scenic print or something involving skulls on them. I've never worn long johns or underwear tops despite it being as cold -30 celsius in the wind chill here from time to time (although to be honest I do wear a big ski parka in the wintertime with my hood up and warm gloves on my hands when I go out). I like those white socks with the grey on the bottom...they have a sort of comfortable feel about them. At times I wear a silver watch, others a plain black one with straight edge marked on it as the xXx symbol. Don't have any tattoos but might consider the xXx if I did get one. I also have in my possession a badmovies.org T-shirt (it rocks even if it did result in me getting some strange looks from people from time to time and others asking me to stop so they could read it even though they still didn't understand it).

There was a time many moons ago, that I would enjoy getting all decked out. I had some nice black steel toed electriction boots,a ragged out blue jean jacket with the sleeves cut off and covered with stuff I drew with a black Sharpie marker-which I would wear over a black leather jacket. Tore up jeans, and punk rock or thrash metal tees. I had my perscription glasses tinted dark, with black plastic frames. Rare to see me wearing them,as I lose glasses like people lose ink pens and cigarette lighters .Typical speed /thrash metal gear.Lotsa skulls and stuff.  If I did that now I'd look like an old fool trying to be cool.  :bluesad:

A friend is throwing an "Anti-Valentine's" party this coming Saturday.  Judging by the guest list, it's going to be me and my friend (and fellow B-movie reviewer) Dan, and about fifteen single women drinking mixed drinks with sexually-suggestive names.

The theme of this party is "porno movie," and we're supposed to come dressed as our favorite archetypal character from porn (i.e., school teacher, secretary, construction worker, etc.).  I am going as "pool boy" and laying out my costume.

Hawaiian shirt, top three buttons unbuttoned.
Shorts
Sunglasses
A bottle of tanning lotion

Dan is going as "camera man":
T-shirt
Jeans
Sunglasses
Sleazy hat
Fake Mustache
Camera
