Title: searching for titles of 3 B-movies
Post by: genxie on February 05, 2009, 09:20:34 PM
1 - a war movie I think, from late seventies or early eighties where a captured guy gets torn in half by camels pulling on either side of him tied  by ropes to his arms. background theme is the desert... modern times ( for that time ).

2 - movie about a middle aged guy who decides to take his black firebird trans am for a spin but this is not aloud in the future USA because gas for privately owned cars is outlawed. sometime early eighties. ( the guy is a reasonably well known actor, I just cant think of his name.

3 - the big important one: a movie that was shown to my grade six or seven class back in ''81 or '82 about a hero guy trying to get to space station to do something then get back to some planet. evil old guy, pretty girl in distress. but the kicker for me was the all black robot that was on the side of good like a sidekick that had twin over/under laser blasters hung cowboy style that dies toward the end but is brought back to life right at the end. dont have much more to go on because this IS 28 + years ago. but I KNOW it isnt - the black hole - because so many people have suggested that, but Ive watched the movie and the robot is very close but the one Im describing is as I say - on the side of good.

#2 should be "Firebird 2015 AD"

#3 might well be "Starcrash."  The robot you describe sounds like "Elle" - the southern-talking robot from that film.  Here is a review:

#2 could also be The Last Chase with Lee Majors and Burgess Meredith.

#1 might be March Or Die with Terence Hill and Gene Hackman.

thanks for the help of both respondents, it was STARCRASH and FIREBIRD 2015 ! thanks again. the last one is probably lost to the ether, I'll find it someday. It looked like a modern day arab - israeli conflict in the early eighties so it may have been a foreign film. thats even harder to identify. 2 out of 3!
